Why not try using Sandtex paint (or similar fine-textured masonry paint)? It is easier to use and apply, doesn't need gluing, won't fall off and you can even buy it in colours if you want.

Major_G, I tried using different kinds of pumice and texture paint. The problem is that in my mass-production mode I don't have enough fine motor control left to accurately apply it to the base but not the models. So little sand/texture pieces end up getting stuck on the models (especially the feet). The labour intensive part is the "fixing" of the models after the sand/texture is on the base.

Fortunately, I have FINISHED all the active bases as of last night. Hurray. Sanded, cleaned, sprayed, drybrushed & painted. ~60 blank vehicle bases and ~100 infantry bases (incl. a bunch of Eldar stuff that wasn't done yet). Of course the mailman just dropped off 1000 more washers so I don't have any excuse anymore to do up the remaining models (Ketzali, etc.).

Tonight I will have to actually paint those remaining 200 points...

Inching towards the finish line: almost done with the "left-overs" that I wanted to get out of the systems:

4 Iron Warrior Obliterators (for BL)
2 Fleshhounds
2 Khorne Terminators (for WoE)
4 Nurgle Havocs (for BL)
2 Nurgle Rhinos (for BL)

I need to wait for the washes to dry overnight and then put on the final highlights tomorrow evening. This month has 31 days, right? ;)

Not truly LatD but on the same painting trays and about all I was good for tonight. Adds up to 640, plus the 300 points worth of Khorne LatD mutants so I am well in the clear. Though of course at this rate it will take two years to fully paint the LatD. Need to pic up the slack next month which shouldn't be too hard now that most stuff is based.

Pics coming tomorrow when the washes are dry.

I do feel your pain!

I get a bit... Obsessed with bases and basing, and hand-cutting and smoothing all of mine took me most of this month's working time. But now they're done, it is a relief - until I run out, heh.

Still, as you say, you've got the assembly behind you now so it should all be good progress now!

Looking forward to seeing what you've done though, as your other armies are very nice. :)

(BTW, why don't you cross-post the pictures here? It's a minor pain to have to navigate away from TacComms!)

August goal reached:
http://wargamingworkshop.wordpress.com/ ... st-second/

Major_G: Cross posting means that I have to upload images, insert and format everything twice. Whereas all you need to do is click a link and then a back button. If this is really an issue then I can try to cross post but it doesn't seem worth the effort. Or is there an easy way to cross-post?

PS: I also put up the Flames of War US army if anybody is interested: http://wargamingworkshop.wordpress.com/ ... owus-army/

All you have to do is put the code for the images into IMG tags... and if you right-click on the images in your blog you can copy the code in seconds. See:

It just makes it a bit faster and friendlier for folks to stick their noses in this thread and see what you've done (and leave a comment here as well I guess) - I'm still happy to go and read the more detailed account in you blog though.

Very nice work too BTW! :D

Thanks FB. For Khorne I wanted to go with a very martial warrior theme. So beasts, but beasts with weapons and military bearing. Nurgle is going to be the animalistic, diseases beast theme (with WM rat ogres, WFB giant rats, etc.). The lictor claws actually worked out really nicely as they have a natural "flesh to claw" joint on the lictor. So no Green stuff or other advanced modelling required. Just cut off the arm and attach the claw at the desired angle.
