Thanks for the comments. It was an early morning idea with very little thought.

Material had to be thin enough so it didn't look like they were floating in the air. Also placed on scenery like grass, it'd just flatten it where the base would be. Just seems silly now to think about it.

A random thought for the day... anyone used transparent bases? and their thoughts on it? Share photos etc? I mainly do painting rather than playing and to put a bit of variety for each army by using different style for each. Tyranids were set in a rocky terrain, Orks are in a dessert/broken lands, T...

Did you get alternatives yet? I have a lot of these in my bit box and have more left sides than I have right (no tanks bodies!). And no intention of using them.

Just to be certain, you need the left side looking down the barrel?

are you going to use this setup soon? Its more of a display piece rather than play piece if that is what you mean :) The final room "The Pit" in B2 floor. Hopefully I'll get around to taking a whole layout and update my blog with it... eventually. And that pipe at the right side connects ...

Those look good, makes me want to rummage through my stores to find my stock of Tau and get painting them.
But the thought of having to clean the surfaces and the brittleness puts me off.
