The fact that I ended up wasting several hours with the gems (started to paint them the wrong way around, how silly of me) certainly didn't help I feel your pain... I've done that a few times - especially with lenses (turned the model round for better access to the part I was painting... And, well....

Yeah, I was actually thinking about getting "Titanicus" today... So I might pick up both novels now they've been recommended! :) @ BL : I did see that, they are the old logos for the Legio Ignatum. The new logo for the Legio is a flaming skull, where the skull is half black and half white ...

Yeah, BL's right. You can choose to paint the protrusions as either gemstones or equipment blisters (i.e., the same as the vehicle hull colour). GW have stated this design aspect of the Eldar armour and equipment on many occasions. Most people choose a few key locations to do as gemstones, and then ...

@ everyone: Thanks guys, I'll have a dip into WD179 then. @ BlackLegion: Very nic3 models; I see you went for the modern version of the scheme! :) Is there much about the Legio in Storm of Iron, or do they only get some snippets? Please keep the info coming guys - I've got enough stuff that I'd like...

I know that Legio Ignatum (the Fire Wasps) are based on Mars, and that their old colour scheme was camo carapace and red+black body and limbs, before the newer revised scheme of red limbs with yellow and black fuzzy-striped carapace/greaves came about. But I had some questions, and was hoping that y...

Cut them with an old-fashioned, lever-action paper cutter - speed and good straight lines. You can crank out hundreds of blanks in no time like this. Scoring and snapping is just as fast, and you only need a knife and a steel rule - the drilling part is only if you want the inset holes like the off...

Actually, I had another idea for making round bases... Bear with me! If you made a 'mould' out of 2mm thick plasticard you could 'cast' the bases in putty. I'd suggest doing it like this: 1 ) Get a piece of 2mm thick plasticard. Cut your 25mm round bases (or whatever diameter) out of it. Perhaps cut...

Looking very smart!

I'd still suggest drybrushing the bases with a little pale beige paint though. :)

Pix are a bit dark, so it's kinda hard to see well, but I really like the stripes on the Mole Mortars. I might steal your idea if that's okay?! :P

Ha, I understand what you mean now! Well, you can still make your own bases; two sheets of Plasticard, a circle cutter, and you follow the method I detailed when making my rectangular ones. You need to use a drill bit rather then a punch though, and the size to use is 6-6.5mm in order to accept the ...

I forgot to mention a few more sources of bases above, so I've edited my post! ;) how do people make circular bases? I either use a circle cutter (cheap to buy on places like Ebay, about £4 usually), or buy ready-made rounds (like stainless steel washers or poker chips, tiddly winks/game counters, e...
