If you want a good 'dull brass', perhaps try a mix of gold and Tin Bitz (50:50), highlighted with the base colour plus Chainmail Silver (again, 50:50). It gives quite a nice dark feel without needing a wash or much effort. You can still wash it afterwards, of course, but I find it give a good crisp ...

Wow, I can't believe what a good match they are to the original E40k buildings! Well Done! :D

Well, I am probably of a similar 'vintage', but even back then I felt that too much green interfered with the overall scheme. I guess I always liked schemes that were quite tight, and not a riot of colours! :P Mix a little Warlock Purple with Skull white - it gives a pretty close match to Tentacle p...

You're welcome Helge, glad the suggestion was helpful to you! As for the other issues in you blog, I have some answers for you: 1) Don't dremel out the big guns on these sorts of old models. As you noted, they are never round anyway and it just ends up looking odd. Instead, I make sure the area is n...

30 points for the TLD is much less problematic than 25, since it does still allow 3 for 100 with only 5 points wasted. ...10 points wasted, since 30+30+30=90? Or am I missing a doubling-up cost somewhere? And silly question perhaps, but why not make all weapons different multiples of 5pts? It would...

Zulu-warrior, Zulu. I am happy with either. Great to meet you all on here. Expect to see more large and shinny constructs very soon.
Welcome - and thank you, looking forward to seeing them! ;D

I can't tell properly from the pic, but it does look as if the base has been clipped off a tag or sprue... Could this be a rare model that came like the very old metal Marines/Eldar/Orks? They often had different proportions and were much smaller compared to the stuff that came later. Otherwise, I a...

It is a very early SM Dreadnought as far as I can tell -Contemptor Class I'd say.

Yeah it looked to me like a Tzeentch-warped Dark Mechanicus cult. I really liked the colours, painting, model ideas - everything really! The main thing was that I was hoping it might help inspire some more Daemon Engines, or at least war machines in that style. I also thought that style / colour sch...

Found an awesome Chaos army over on this blog . No idea what it's about exactly, but there is some frankly brilliant modelling and painting stuff in it! I mention it here as some folks have said that they'd like to see more custom Chaos stuff in Epic scale, but that inspiration is either lacking, or...

Uh, Tom... can other people see Dominic, too? Or does he just show up when you're alone? Does he tell you to do bad things? I'm asking as a concerned business associate. Dom! You are making me look stupid! *attempts one last time to get his attention* http://punditkitchen.files.wordpress.com/2010/0...

Absolutely *love* these! :D

I really think they are very original and well-converted at this scale (and would make good Genestealer Hybrids too...), and I have to admit that I like the bare-headed ones as much as the hooded ones.

Looking at him up close in the pics I think he looks a little dwarf-like unfortunately That'd be because GW decided that all Epic models should have heads that are at least 1/3rd of their total height. :) ...You mean that isn't normal? Huh, learned something new today I guess :P. Exceptionally good...

Just test the pen first though! Get something like a scrap of painted plasticard, varnish it and then scribble on it. I used some fine-tipped permanent pens years ago to do the Teutonic crosses on the my Knights' heraldry (the blue/yellow scheme like the TL boxed set models) after I read the suggest...
