Be interested to see a full battle report on this. I toyed with doing something similar but for ships destroyed that would lead to limited unit selection. For instance you might not have Titans, SHT etc

Thanks for the feedback folks. While I am aware the second edition is coming I had been hoping to pick up a cheap used first edition to see if the family liked it. Will wait till the second edition is out and see what the differences are

Stop it, you have me reaching for my wallet!!

So to those who have played both. Which is easier to learn - X-wing or Armada? My wife and oldest occasionally play games (BB and Shadow Wars) but to keep them interested it needs to be easy to learn

Always been curious about the x-wing game. Been tempted by it or armada but never played either.

Been inspired to start some 40k in 15mm. Thinking about starting with some small skirmish armies, just to get the painting started. So many cool minis out there, and prices that wont cost you and arm and a leg. What rule system for 15mm can you recommend? And have is there stats for 40k units? I am...

I guess the idea with the new AT is to get some of the youth/new players into the game with the idea of giant titans knocking 4 shades out of each other. We can then hopefully convert some of them to Epic....

Yup, couldn’t agree more. Normally I much prefer the old models but there have been a few models lately that I really like that echo the old skool models

Would be sad if AT lived or died by the success of necromunda? Did it ever sell more than about four copies?

The latest version? Seemed to do well with the “oldhammer” community.

I get what the "difference" is. My examples were not meant to be for the same game, they were to show the points cost variance in 2 seperate games. So in one game the difference was 2 activation's, and in the other the difference was 5 activation's. So in the first game you have an SM Army...

It’s an interesting game theory topic - it’s the same as asking what the minimum point cost is for a formation that does nothing. The value really isn’t constant - it’s a function of the number of a activations you have in you army (among other things). Maybe it would be something like 50 pts + 10 ...

I agree with Semajnollissor. If you both have it then it takes away from the effectiveness. I know when I play SM against IG there are times when I would love to let my opponent take an extra activation before I do. But in that situation I would just choose not to retain the initiative. Surely choos...
