Since the vehicles look like MRAPs or some sort of wheeled armored vehicles. May I suggested using toy hummers from hot wheel and matchboxes instead? You would use the count as rules. You could use the regular hummers for troop transport. The antii-tank humvee for fire support or scouts. They have a...

Good list. Although I will mixed Basilisks and Manticores together in the same artillery company, ex. One company of 9 Basilisks with an attached Manticore platoon of 3 vehicles, since according to the epic armageddon rules, you lose a turn each time you fire the rockets on a Manticore since you hav...

Add a platoon of 3 of them to your salmanders in your scout companies along with a platoon of 3 griffons and four vultures as air recon scouts. Also add a platoon of mechanized infantries in chimeras along with a fire support platoon. In other words, an armored cavalry company.

Usually, heavy units are grouped with other heavy units. Light units are grouped together with other light units. The British Army reorganization is somewhat unusual. However, you do have heavy units reorganized as light units, ex. U.S. Army units in Iraq. So, instead of using tanks, heavy APCs or I...

As I recalled, the Cadian Regiments are more like a World War II Soviet Army Combined arms units, e.g. lot of tanks supported by foot infantry. There were a lot of them and were easier to mobilize than a mechanized infantry unit. Steel Legion units are more like the heavy brigades of the U.S. Army w...

According to the publication Jane's Defence Weekly, the British Army is revamping the structure of its brigade to include light infantry, mechanized, and armored units. This kind of remind me of some of the imperial guard army list that are structured the same way.

I used the salamanders as a replacement for the amoured cavalry/reconnaisse company.  Funny thing though, while the Epic Armageddon book mentioned the Salamanders in the Count As section, there are no formal organization chart for them. So, using the Cavalry battalion organization chart in the ...

How about assigning a company of tanks to the Elysians? This was done during Iraqi Freedom when a battalion of Abrams were assigned to the 101st Air Assault Division for mobile fire support during ground operations. Other than Apaches, the only other support were either towed or lifted by helicopter...

As for the space marines, there is something I don't understand. In particularly all armies, scouts and snipers are considered to be elite units. The US Marines, the closest real life unit to the Space Marines, have snipers in their most elite unit, Marine Force Recon, who are an elite scout unit as...

I guess it just proves the point, those who play Epic or Warhammer 40k tend to either have military experience or a military history buff like myself.  I guess we are lot more intelligent than most people. As for the space marines, there is something I don't understand. In particularly all armi...

I also recalled that I had discussed with someone about the same issue on another blog, the Specialist Game Forum. For smaller games, this unit maybe somewhat underpowered; it does not have enough infantry or armor. However, in a larger group, you can use it as a flanking force, i.e. 3rd Armored Cav...

A reconnaissance force can have both mortar and artillery support. The United States Army Armored Cavalry Regiment, Heavy, has both in addition to tanks. During Desert Storm, it was used as a spearhead for the U.S. Army's V Corp during its advance into Iraq. It was used more like a small armored div...
