Yeah I'm definately in favour of keeping the markerlight function against aircraft. In fact, I'd be in favour of getting rid of dumbfire mode (yeah, I'm one of those fluff purists) but I'm not really that bothered about it. The relationship between markerlights and AA is an interesting feature of Ta... |

I'm not sure about that markerlight against aircraft thing - I mean even though an aircraft is moving quickly, they aren't exactly hard to follow with a beam of light - its not like you have to lead fire... All it requires is fairly precise aiming technology capable of optical targeting...which isn'... |

Yeah, i'm definately liking the 'Command Array' idea (though maybe 'Command Net' would make more sense, but that's just being picky) and I would suggest that it is included as an option for all Cadres.
How about that?

well you have to remember we're talking about marking whole formations of targets here, so with more markerlights you can both mark more targets AND call in more seekers (one markerlight per seeker remember), which means the more markerlights you have, the better. Personally I'm in favour of making ... |

Well...under the system I suggested any aircraft squadron on the table when the markerlights are used would still be available to launch seekers just like any other unit. If they're off the table you couldn't...same as any other unit - because basically off the table just means out of range, that's ... |

Hey guys, I'm back from my weekend-and-a-bit away from the warmth of my PC. As far as markerlights/GM's go... I don't mind the current system (its usable...as a game mechanic) but I don't like the way that the markerlight/seeker missile combo is reduced to basically acting like a 'normal' weapon wit... |

This all seems needlessly wordy and complicated (read: my eyes glazed over at the top of this page ). With the current GM rules we have a 75cm shot which is limited by a 30cm radius around marker units. This is simple and effective and pretty true to the fluff, except for the missiles being shot as ... |

Quote (Honda @ 25 Nov. 2005 (15:00))In fact, one could make the point that we don't really have a dominating unit (although our tanks are pretty good) and that only in conjunction with each of the parts does the list perform to expectation. ...Which is the essence of 'combined arms' strategy, the co... |

The thing is that, though low in physical numbers, Crisis suits *are* a mainstay Tau unit. They either need to be part of the Fire Warrior Cadre selection (which would limit their usefulness by tying them down), or have their own cadre - which I think is working fine as-is IMHO. Having a SC limited ... |

yeah, I like that edited version. I feel it might be a *teeny* bit too good (if you're going for 2x hunters, maybe we should take out the chassis seeker missiles), but you guys are more experienced at this kind of thing so I'm prepared to agree. |

...so...baaack to the topic then I'm definately on the side of 'I play Tau - yes' here. Not particularly because I play Tau, but because having battlesuits as LV's really doesn't make sense. Obliterators (a unit with the same numbers per base and general purposes) are infantry. Termies are infantry.... |

Personally, I'm steering well clear of these. They've got some kind of 'Quasimodo' thing going on.

Hi, i'm new here on this site but i've been following the discussion for a while. I do agree that the skyray is somewhat underpowered for 75 points, especially given its reliance on markerlight range to do decent damage. Personally I believe the best way to fix this is simply to change the hunter mi... |
