Using GZG:s fighters is something I've concidered for a long time. However, their lack of picture has thus far put the project on ice. I'm curious, are there any of their ships that might double as a Gothic scale Manta or Barracuda? (The Tau ordinance)

Mechanised Fire Warrior cadres with Hammerheads are my "stable" formation. I base my entire battleplans on them. I'd recommend toying with Drones (to keep them from walking) and other units to boost their AT potential.

So, will 'scount', 'infiltrate', and +1 to their cover saves special rule do them justice enough to be tried in armies?

After giving it some thought, I'd prefer an invulnerable save (to represent their terrain-sneaking) rather then an additional special rule. We have enough of them as is!

As "standins" for the Morays, wouldn't the Centauri  Strike Crusier or the Attack Frigate be suitiable?

The problem, as I see it... is if we keep the relatively large formation size of the Kroot and add Scout The amount of terrain a 15+ Unit formation could control would be immense! If the Kroot -do- get Scout, (and I really do think it would help niche them away from the Gue'vesa) I'd suggest a small...

Quote I typically don't see as many of my opponents go vehicle heavy in their lists - just like the eldar player did... IG usually has tank co's, vultures, valkyeries, titans, planes, with a sprinkling of a couple infantry co's and maybe rough riders. Orks usually are all meched up and are taking as...

Hrm, Scout, as Legion 4 states would allow the Kroot to function as Area-denial units, with their large-ish formation-size in terrain.

Perhaps this is the niche we wish them to have? It is, IMHO, the role they have in 40k as well. They're not assault-units as much as terrain-huggers.

I do believe that drones are -both- part of the individual units, and seperate units on their own! There was a discussion about this on the old board, where the compromise (to save those poor people who had already created their units!) was to have drones both be part of the Fire Warrior Stands, and...

Quote In 40K, a crisis suit is hardly a comparison. It's power armor. The suit looks big for the tau guy inside, but is just armor that is stable enough to support rapid firing weapons ie. plasma or assault weapons like missle pods. It's nowhere near the VEHICLE that a dreadnought is in 40K. Actuall...

Quote First, it seems a bit illogical by comparison to 40K and for the fact that they are basically smaller dreadnoughts.  Broadsides with walker does help a bit, crisis don't have that. In my humble opinion, the fact that they're light vehicles -does- show that they're mini dreadnoughts. Havin...

Quote So... change no stats and limit the amount of them in a formation may be the better choice in the end to address the concerns that are out there. Well, for me the problem isn't the 100% Ion Cannon formations.... as much as it is the ability to cherry-pick a single Ion Cannon for the AA ability...

Given the current difficulty in making the Ion Cannon an attractive choice... but not so attractive that it overshadows the Skyray weaponry. As JG has stated, we also need to be careful to diffrenciate it from the Railgun, so that it isn't just a pale copy. Currently, its the AA that diffrenciates i...

First impression of this list, is that its pretty solid! I like the way you've added Hammerheads to your shas'la formations, so they won't have to walk after the first AT casualty. I'm assuming you're going to have at least one of them be an IC hammerhead, to provide the AA cover you'll need with no...

Quote I think the broadsides and crisis REALLy need the flexability to get back into 'infantry' terrain cover. Well, I've not had the difficulties you describe with my Crisis and Broadside suits. I am using plentiful amount of drones with my formations though, to soak hits and buff up the size. Coul...

I believe JG has stated that Forgeworld is using the 4.0 version of our list, with the models they don't make removed. Thusly, I don't think that (beyond additional backround) the Taros Campaign Book will affect us so much.
