I looked through the PDF file, and have the following comments. Some typo notes: -The Support Formations header for the formation name is currently 'Upgrade', should be 'Formation' like with companies? -"Storm Troopers Platoon" should be "Storm Trooper Platoon" Notes on the units: -Command Salamande...

(Hena @ Jul. 26 2007,12:09)QUOTENote that since Tau is downgraded in assault, their weapons are upgunned. So don't draw direct parallels from 40k. As far as Crisis. I'd leave them out of tuning for now. Isn't that mostly only true for infantry? As far as tank units are concerned, their defining att...

(baronpiero @ Jul. 24 2007,21:48)QUOTEJust a few points CS: Hammerheads: I'd say not both changes at the same time. - Either up cost to 400 pts. - Or rework the main guns. At this point I'm getting more and more convinced that re-focusing the main guns on tank-killing is the way to go. IMHO the 4+/...

(okpjay890 @ Jul. 17 2007,10:59)QUOTEIncrease the range of the bombard to 60cm will be nice. For all the reasons evocated in the post of Hojyn. Jay Range 60 would be great. Some other points to consider for small scale performance tuning. Increase armour to 5+ (IMHO this would also be supported by ...

The exact verbiage from IA5 is "Battle Cannon: The two...

(Evil and Chaos @ Jul. 13 2007,15:02)QUOTEThe precedent for all twin weapons in Epic is that they get plus-one to-hit. So yeah, it will have a semi-decent AT value when sustaining. There is the Twin Big Shoota that gets only +1AP. However, there are already stats for a twin autocannon. The Vulture ...

The Hydra has what look like search and fire control radars. Also as a weapons platform it is likely much more stable. Thus->better AA stats. In comparison the Sabre is directed by the Mk1 Eyeball of the guardsman and is aimed using his muscle power. Is there a precedent for twin-linked autocannon s...

I'd like to point out that in 40K FWs do have a clear responsibility and role: They kill infantry. They are the only real choice a shas'o has when it comes to killing masses of troops, also being effective against marines and other heavy infantry. While crisis suits can also be used for AP work, the...

Like ChrisHayes demonstrated above, there is nothing wrong with the FW themselves. If anything, they could be made to have even more AP firepower. The combined pulse rifles are just that lethal to infantry. IMHO the other Tau units have too much AP firepower. I commented earlier on changing the Rail...

I know this is kind of late but.. Would declaring that the Manta is a skimmer that is always 'popped up' have pretty much the same effect? It would still float high in the air, not just quite as high:) With the new skimmer rules it would of course remove the ability to see everything on the battlefi...

I am not convinced that FW replacing human aux as garrison forces is the right way to go. Like said earlier, they lack the equipment for forming firebases. Holding ground is also completely against Tau doctrine, thus garrison duty is much more suitable for humans. A case could be even made for not p...

After reading through the whole thread it seems like many people want to make the FW better by nerfing some other units. However, there seem to be no suggestions on how to do that beside the auxilia reductions. I have no experience with Epic Tau but have played them in 40K from day 1, and am also ot...
