After checking out the Epic Lounge and other get members sites, I have decided that I need to get a little more serious about my painting. ?So, I decided that since I love the Horus Heresy books that I would do some pre heresy army detachments. ?I will try to update as often as possible, with work and family permitting. ?I have put together an assult detachment which will be my loyalist World Eaters. ?I have also done a test stand of loyalist Emperor's Children. ?Looking forward to doing a lot of painting.

I'll second that. I' ve been meaning to do a pre-heresy Marine army for a long time based on Sm1 To&E. That means plenty of Land Raiders and also CI's as transports.

Looking forward to seeing more

I agree. I actually prefer the pre heresy Emperor's Children scheme to the post heresy one. ...But perhaps that is just because I haven't found a really good (read: quick) way of painting it in Epic scale yet :p

I think it was Will Hayes who did an awsome pre-heresy Death Guard army in 40k scale. I always wanted to try something similar for Epic. Also the Rogue Trader era Salamanders colorscheme is really neat: Instead of the lush green they had a nice almost black color highlighted with a turquoise-ish green. Another future project methinks :D

Derailing the subject perhaps but I also really liked some of the pre heresy space ship designs from the Heresy card game. In time I would like to try and convert some of those from Imperial and Chaos BFG ships.

Here is a little update on my project. ?This is my devastator detachment with upgrades. ?I have made some pre heresy hunters I made tonight to take care of all the aircraft my friends will be using. ?I made them so the rockets are still able to turn. ?I just had one quick question were there razorbacks or did they come after the heresy?

Nice indeed.
As far as I can remember off the top of me ead the Razorback came later but I'd let a fluff expert confirm if I were you.

IIRC the fluff in the original WD that introduced the razorback said it was a rediscovered standard template construct from the Golden Age.  So that would make it post-heresy I think.  However the fluf is bound to have changed since 1995  :p

Also this was back when new variants were considered heresy by the AD Mech (ive always wondered why there can be new makes of LR if everything is based on an ancient STC at least according to the old fluff....)

EDIT- loving the hunters by the way!!

Everything is based on STC templates.

So you can put two STC's together (Say a Lascannon turret and a Rhino hull) and what you end up with one vehicle which only contains STC components. Thus the Razorback (Or whatever) is an STC vehicle.

That makes sense- ive never thought of it in that way. Like I say I havent read any proper fluff for a LONG time so I got the feeling that things were more flexible nowadays.

In the case of the razorback though I dont think it was a combinations of STC's- im sure there was a WD article that reffered to it as a rediscovered STC?   Or is my memory playing tricks....

Thanks for the info guys, I will probably just use rhinos and land raiders for transports then.  If the humidity goes down a little I will try to get some of this painted this weekend.
