Yeah that's eye watering. The fandom has long ago just started 3D printing the quake cannons so this feels underwhelming. Granted 'official' is a thing important to many.

I admit - I did actually have to double-take whether it was the price for small scale or for 40k.

The new buildings are super expensive too - it's a shame, as they look nice. Fortunate that there are some nice alternatives on the market for a fraction of that cost.

I think the buildings cost is about what you can expect from GW. Slightly less product then alternatives, for very slightly more. The bulk kit they put out at christmas and have now re-released with the new spires is actually pretty good value. I dont think they included enough to build the sort of thing they are encouraging for AT, but €120 for an entire Epic 40k city seems pretty good.

Not to mention that you can make the buildings go a lot further with some clever usage of plasticard.

The increase in price compared to other alternatives covers the increase in details and the convenience that all GW products bring.

I'm honestly more surprised that GW are not charging even more for a lot of their AT stuff.
The only ridiculous costed thing so far has been the resin add ons and I can kind of see why they charge so much, as they are a specialist product. Only thing with these new weapons that has me rolling my eyes is people on the official facebook page moaning about the cost, but also bragging about ordering 10+ kits, which is why they have sold out so quickly.

I don't blame GW for charging what they do when people blindly buy their products at prices they dislike.

good input Rex.

I should also note that for myself I found the quake cannon especially meh when it came to the design. Compare the FW resin one to the cool as crap revolver 6-shooter version from Liktor21. I'm actually thinking the small spires set is a good deal as I view them as accessories for other kits and kitbashed terrain and not something to make a city from so a higher price is to be expected.

Anyhoos TMG has some terrain stuff coming up they started teasing yesterday so far more excited about that.

On reflection it looks par for the course with FW - maybe they are not price gouging (much). The cheapest FW infantry figure is £14, and I imagine the cost of design, tooling, and manufacture is similar for a Titan weapon.

I bought a Lego Creator Ford Mustang as a present for someone the other day. Jesus, Lego makes FW look like good value. :o

Like Rex, I think the GW AT stuff is good value. I actually wish there were fewer hours involved (less value??) in building the Warlord Titans! And the spires look great, I could have done with those when I was building my SoB Cathedral.

I was very surprised at the spirals kit and almost gobsmacked they made it backwards compatible! Being able to build extension on top of the original kits seems so out of place for GW, they normally like you to have to replace everything you have already brought to use a new kit! Considering the high percentage of players that are heavily into AT will have already brought piles of terrain are now able to just add the roofs to existing buildings! I was even more surprised to see they gave you a bunch of additional spires as well as the full extensions! All for less then the regular building kit as well!

Definitely looking forward to seeing what TMG have in store for this kickstarter. I've yet to buy into the original buildings- missed the first terrain kickstarter and I had the choice of completing some armies or buying terrain from vanguard, so I Went with minis as its something I can't make for myself if I needed too. But I'll be buying into some now for sure, I've started building a road set, with spaces ready for new buildings.

Gw AT release seems far to late to cash in on the heresy. It's coming to the end of the run of books, they have all but pushed the 40k scale HH crowd away over the last 12 months (price rises, ditching forgeworld kits, removal of the board games, higher prices on entry kits etc) I'd thought it would have made more sense to have released AT at the time that HH fever was really going. Or if they had only been able to do the game now, instead of starting way back at HH they would have released this game under the siege of Terra era and taken advantage of the current books/buzz.

Oh well, sucks to be them. I just hope that Ben has some really good bits up his sleeve, especially if they tie in with siege stuff that is going to be on people minds over the next few months. Some imperial palace & walls would look super cool in Epic. I know there is a few other companies out there doing similar, but some of them are more expensive then GWs own offerings. Least with TMG we know we get our moneys worth!

I was not aware that TMG had any projects in the works.

Where have they been publicizing it?

facebook. It's not live yet, Ben has just put a couple of fuzzy images of sneak peaks. Looks like a whole lot of ruins, a spires upgrade pack (resin) and some new building panels. Might be some odds n sods like power generators and roof decoration, but thats all guesses from what I can see in the images.

By the way, apparently the new book makes reference to Banners of these:

There have been people saying (well, grumbling) that apparently though the new book mentions plenty of knight variations, nothing new is planned currently.

Seems odd, not only as they are releasing a knight based book but also the knights seem to be the one kit they could persuade people to buy many many multiples of for variants and new weapons, being as they are the cheapest kit and probably the quickest to paint up (I'm still waiting on my first batch to be delivered from the uk- Vanguard can get models to me in about three days but GW can take up to two months. Insane)

Yes they really dropped the ball here didn't they, bring out a knight focused book but no actual new knight models or even variant weapons for the existing hulls to go with it, pretty poor effort there IMHO. New knights would sell by the bucket load i'm sure.

RexHavoc why not try an independent stockist they may be quicker if they have what you are after in stock.

TMG's next campaign hopes to add many new tiles to the existing sets as well as resin pieces and a few other items besides. The new tiles really do open up the potential for these terrain sets I know as I've had the privilege of seeing them already, I will be backing the campaign for sure.

News on the current sets are that they are under going test castings with the new manufacturer and we should be seeing them back in stock very soon now.

Sadly, its UPS at fault 90% of the time. They claim they can't locate my house on their system and as GW don't provide a phone number on the package they can't contact me. I've emailed GW on several occasions asking them to stop sending things via UPS, but never got a reply. I tired dark sphere last year and also sent my package by UPS, so same issue. I'm currently trying Goblin Gaming. I ordered a few bits from them about a week before I placed my last order with you and I'm still waiting (Easter has obviously buggered the timing up)

Can't wait to see what the new tiles are like. Always wanted a full city scape and finally getting enough terrain to start working on it. I've been hoarding minis for years, but never thought to hoard terrain before I quit the job! I take it after the campaign they will be vanguard items as per the other tiles? Really excited to see what there is!

Yeah, GW really make me scratch my head with this one. I know it costs them to tool plastic, but even putting out some weapons or alternative heads in resin would have made sense to coincide with the new book. Oh well. I'm happily adding the books to my collection as nothing more then source material for Epic. I'll convert my own new knight weapons when I have the first stock builds finished. It's just another nail in GWs SG coffin (again! This is like the third time they have shot themselves!)

GWs focus is 40k/30k not AT.
Early epic game editions lead vehicle concepts like the ordinatus and knights.
40k sales suffered and epic was killed off to save the company's flag ship.

I would be happy to see AT following 40k releases but its not happening. It can not be allowed to challenge the 40k money stream.

The new tiles will be available via my website as well as TMG's own site just as the current ones are now yes.

Not sure when we would be likely to see them in store mind, the campaign will run for at least a month or so and then you need to supply the backers before making a production run for retail, so I'm guessing more like late summer for retail availability but Ben would probably be better able to answer that question.

While I'd love for this to actually be true, as it would indicate that AT88, AT18, and the various editions of Epic were very popular, I can't see this being the case.

If there's one thing you can definitely say about GW, it's that they follow the money.

Studies about hobby spending have indicated that it's actually pretty hard to saturate the market.

Epic suffered from too many stock units that started to crowd our display space in stores - which is VERY finite. The rules were not the issue - the way they sold the miniatures was. The line became bloated and sales suffered as a result. Ergo, it was eventually cut.

You'll note they're keeping a very strick rein on the number of miniatures this time around, which actually indicates that they think the game has got legs - they're not going for a quick cash grab then cut.
