I'm starting my first new 6mm army in well over a decade. I've spent the last year painting ww2 historicals and getting used to a paintbrush again. Painting in bright, contrasting colours is going to be a challenge.

Despite cutting my epic teeth on Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine in my younger years (yes, I'm that old) I'll be building this force around Epic Armageddon codex marines. If I want to I should be able to expand 'em to space marine levels of model count in the future.

I've based my colour scheme on Red Scorpions because:

a) I like the colour scheme

b) I wanted a codex chapter

c) I like the colour scheme

Any variations from canon will be because it's my army and I'll paint it the way I like. 8)

Cool !!!! I like the Old school models ! I too plan on doing a Red Scorpion unit. You can get little Red Scorpion decals at Armorcast. I got some they fit well in 6mm AFVs, etc ... http://www.armorcast.com/decals/ginfrit ... cal-in-red I used some on my 6mm Slammer AFVs ...

Those vindicators and preds look familiar.... they may well have been the ones I sold off pre-xmas.... ;) good luck with em!

The army is shaping up nicely, is it mostly comprised of the older style models? If so it's going to be very special indeed :)

Thanks for the kind words. :)

Those decals look good - I'm shying away from painting all those itty bitty scorpions freehand.

And yes, those might well be familiar - got them from ebay off of a seller with a very similar username to you. ;)

I've also some old metal whirlwinds to do, but they'll need some love before they get paint.

I also have loads of plastic rhinos that will see service as transports once they've had a dettol bath.

I've never been happy with the monopose plastic infantry, though, so I'll be using proxies for those.

Everything else will be older stuff if for preference, unless availability/prices/whimsy pushes me to use newer stuff or proxies. I suspect I'll proxy the thunderhawks(s), for example.

Kids out of the house yesterday and no reason to go out into the horrible weather resulted in these 5 getting a coat of paint.:

I have to admit I prefer this pattern of land speeder to the newer, more enclosed version.

Not sure whether to try painting insignia on the shoulder pads. I suspect my eyes, patience, sanity and painting skills are not up to it, anyway. :{[]

Has anyone done so, and if you have do you have any tips?

Just googled the war griffons. That's a nice colour scheme and I do have a forgeworld warhound that needs a coat of paint....

Good grief - how many bits are the forgeworld warhound legs in? :o

Two feet,two legs (all different) & lower thorax all to position so they fit together and look reasonably dynamic.

It's a miracle I've not superglued myself to my titan. The swear box made some money this evening! ::)
