Here's some Lizardman Ruins with Ancient Astronaut statues among other things and a statue of an ancient Slaan Lord ... Just food for thought ... http://s48.photobucket.com/user/Legion4 ... 3718770093

THanks Lyle !! With my 3 Lizardman/Raptor forces ( DRM -Kray, EW - Terragin and SEM Raptors) I thought they needed some ancient ruins and such ... 8)

Some very interesting ideas. I quite like the idea that Slann tech looks slightly organic. It would make a nice contrast to the Necron. If you could combine the Dogu style with something slightly organic, like the Zentradi spaceships from Macross, with a bit of froggyness thrown in, I think you have a very interesting style going on.

Good point WN - organic feel would clash nicely with the Crons.

Couldn't help myself from doodleling a bit - I'm unable to digitize the sketch right now, But some random thoughts:

Since the Slann is supposed to be as old (or older) than the Necron, it makes sense that some of their tech works the same way. Perhaps more focus on anti grav technology - even for larger machines like mechs and titans? They could have limbs, but rely more on them for manipulating objects rather than actually walking. I could imagine them looking rather like they are "swimming" through the air.

Instead of a traditional humanoid walker design, it might be interesting if the design was centered around a large head of sorts. A bit like the tripods from War of the Worlds (But definitely NOT a tripod!). I was experimenting borth with a cycloptic design and a Dogu head that looks a bit like Darth Stewie :p
Weapon placement would be vaguely like the Tau drone and between those, a small body with manipulators, like frog legs or something...

Anyway: Just throwing some ideas out there :)

A few more interesting images from google:

What I suppose is some king of Dogu cat (robot?)
http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs21/i/2007/ ... by_ZS3.jpg

And a figurine of sorts:

Imagine the head flattened somewhat and the arms replaced with weapons and the legs removed and replaced with manipulators that doesn't necessarily function as legs (could perhaps curl up a bit like on a chicken walker design)

I'd make their stuff float. Similar to that 'Cron vibe but with the spin of them being like ancient mezoamerican monuments

Hi!

Deacon, download the Net Epic Gold Slann book. It will give you ideas for unit types as well as mechs (titans and walkers).

Tied in with some concept art, I do think you have the makings of a great line.

I've a 100k point slann army on paper that only needs someone to provide the models for.... ;)

I thought about that too and to be fair the more i think about it the more i like the promise of it.

i would be a bit more carefull. just the heads could be very silly and walking weapons could easily look like tyranids in this scale. i actually made a mistake with my first sketch in being so near a real frog - shapewise.

this is pretty much what i had in mind. It has good shaoes is more organic than eldar but without loosing the technology aspect completly. thank you for that.

i thought about this a lor. they are both ancient very alien races and have both pyramid building cultures as there model. But unlike space marines and chaos spacemarines there not brothers or even the same race.
The difference between them is important. One a complete mechanical force representing death. THe other organical creating life.
The Slann have constructed races and are master of bioengineering. I think that should reflect in their army look.

better version of the picture later

Just a quick WIP.

Bottom ones are early sketches. Top one still very unfinished, but you get the general idea.

The "headdress" could be optional and possibly double as ornate missile pods of sorts.

These would need to be mounted on flight stands, as the legs are not designed to carry the weight of the machine. Think Imperial Probot from Starwars and you are close.

Interesting concept WMN, sort of reminds me of Emrakul from Magic The Gathering, he/it is a big floating monster that looks a bit like a mountain with loads of tentacles underneath.
