I figured I would start a thread following my efforts to paint up all of my 6mm fantasy armies. I'm pretty well into the orcs now, though I haven't done any of the basing yet. I'm also waiting for a restock of orc command models to make my command stands and character stands.

Here is the progress so far, 390 painted orcs, a mixture of warriors and spearman:

And a profile shot:

I'm working on the orc brutes now, as well as the Lesser Behemoths.

Great stuff - this is how 6mm should look as a great horde. I'm sure it'll help you sell thousands of the little darlings (no, I cant believe I used that word either... but there you go... )

Shall I whomp up some custom bases for you, or will you be using the standard 5 hole bases?

Finally finished the Brutes, 209 of them (I dropped one...I cannot find the poor soul). That sets the current tally at over 600 painted. I have been putting off the flocking and static grass, but I think I'll have to tackle that soon.

And i thought i was the only one to drop and lose the little buggars. The behemoths convert well for sci fi .

These are fantastic!

What system are you using them in and how many points does it all equate to?

Just a general suggestion on mass-basing: I've had good luck glueing 6mm metals down with Elmer's Carpenter's wood glue: use a paint brush to slop it on to the base, stick the minis down, then shower the base and minis with flocking before the glue dries.

Let set 5-10 minute, blow off excess flock, spray with water, let dry.

Saves trying to paint/glue around already-fixed minis... and the wood glue is pretty easy to clean off a paintbrush .

@Carrington
I actually considered doing something similar, as getting the brush with the glue between figures is a real pain. the only thing I was concerned with is the little round bases the guys stand on being uncovered, as ithink it might look a little weird.

As for rules, I think I am going to use either Mighty Armies or Fantasy Rules!3 to start out. I also just bought Rally Round the King...but that is going to take me a while to digest. I still need to paint up opposition for the little guys anyway!

Despot,

For some reason, I was reviewing old posts today and came across this one. In the top picture, there are some unpainted sci-fi vehicles in the background behind the orcs. 1 of them has been discussed before, the other is new to me. Can you describe each and advise what the release date is on each?

Thx

The ones on the left are the Foundationist IFV's, the big guy on the right is the Foundationist Mobile Command Center (MCC). It is coming out along with the rest of the Foundationist range in mid January, barring any mold failures. The main hull is actually going to be resin, as the metal version proved to be way too heavy to be feasible.
