My newest paintjob, done for a contest held on Relic forums. About 40 hours total. [Pic 1] [Pic 2] [Pic 3] [Pic 4] The images are links to larger pictures (50-70k apiece). Miniature is unconverted but with a lot of freehand details ? .
I've been thinking to sell her, but I am uncertain as to what starting price would be reasonable. $40? More? Less?
I could as well spend some extra time, money and effort and paint up an entire squad for to go with her (and appropriately high price tag for the whole bunch). However, I don't know - and would like to ask - if the investment per miniature would return better in the case of a single mini, a matching squad (6-10 models) or it would be all the same in both cases?
Finally, and that's probably the most important, what is the best place to sell painted minis? Ebay or something else? ?

Hi 5th. I still haven't tried selling anything on Ebay but I think it would be your best choice. If you can get Paypal everything is quite safe and easy to do.
As for selling: I haven't really been following 40k trades but usually a small batch fetch a pretty good price. However if the paint job is excellent a single miniature can go pretty high as well. Just make sure you post plenty of good close up pics with your add.
Good luck
Cheers!

What do you think of making a small batch of Sisters like that one (thinking 6-8 including VSS, Imagifer and a possible Canoness)? Could I hope for a slightly better interest per miniature?

If painted to a good standard it'd probably be great but I also think that less will do. Problem is that the individual price often tends to go down when you get above 5 miniatures. However I guess it also has a lot to do with luck. Sometimes an seemingly insignificant auction will skyrocket and other times an excellent deal will go at a ridiculously low price.
My best advice would be to remember plenty of good pics -lotsa closeups if the quality is like the mini you've just posted! Don't set the starting bid too high but remember to set a reserve price so that you don't have to sell the mini for less than what you bought it for. ...Oh and remember to write something like :"sold as seen" as some people can get a bit agitated in that respect... Finally remember to charge for the shipping costs and, if you're using Paypal, to add the 5% transaction fee to your calculation.
Cheers!

... but to get a good idea of prices for painted stuff I suggest that you surf arround a bit on Ebay to get an impression of the rates.

TFH,
Keep in mind something else. As nice as this mini is, it is a "standard trooper" mini. By that, I mean the miniatures that gather the highest price are those that could/should stand out. Leader figures and named figures.
In this case, a small squad would be more attractive to someone. They could use them as their elites or bodyguard for their leader figure.
Ebay is good for some things, but keep the above in mind.

Well I haven't experienced it myself but at times I've read feedback where people are complaining that the product wasn't as they expected. You can't always expect people to read the item description properly so just to be on the safe side I suggest that you add the note that this is their own responsibility.
Also you sould probably decide what your policy is for stuff lost or damaged in mail.
I think it is very rare but sometimes you'll come across a real jerk. It's just better to be on the safe side and have some sort of policy on these subjects.
Cheers!
