Cor, they've got a GW stockist named 'Pri Goblinu' in Ljubljana - have to check it out (dreams of mountains of cheap Epic and BFG stuff...)

I probably won't have internet access for the next couple of days so I'm going to wish you Bon Voyage now, have a great break and 'see' you again soon.

Have a nice trip V :;):  I wish I had a job where you got to see the world like that (Even though Miniature production would inevitably suffer :p  )

Cheers! :)

Hi all, I'm back. Thanks for the replies -
Justiniel - it was a work-do, but I had time to look around a bit;
L4 - classified, yes, but Ad Mech count as 'need to know' ?:p
Warmaster - well, it can get hectic at times, and the long waits at airports are ugh.

Overall - it was a great trip, and although Rok and co. from Univerzita v Ljubljana (or so) were terrific hosts, the country itself is a really nice place, with 70% forests and mountains (ok, so what, but remember we have practically 0 forests and less mountains..); bears; an incredible cave system; castles; a lively enough univ town etc etc.

There were some weird moments, though:

1 - At Munich, a huge bearded guy walked up to the flight boarding gate counter, whacked a thick bible onto it, asked (i) do you know when the flight to (?) leaves and (ii) do you know when your judgement is? ... :O
2 - I learned that the Pri Mraku inn (where I was staying) name means 'Inn of darkness' or something to that effect!! These sadists put my room in the fourth floor attic and never included a lift, in spite of instructions warning you not to use it in case of fire...
3 - One road sign clearly said ' Epic'
4 - I found the Epicentre! It exists in the real world! It's a bookshop in the main shopping street in Ljubljana - never knew we were that much into books, at least not into books lacking EA stuff, orks, strategy, technical military stuff, tanks, kite boards.... well, you get the idea.

All that, with Warhammer FB Imperial style castles, cats, and a cave system putting Moria to shame! Well worth a visit.

Dobre dan, all! :D

Welcome 'home' 'V', good to hear that you enjoyed yourself with cats, castles and caves :D do they have anything beginning with 'd'?

Umm, lets see.... oh yes, the Dragon bridge, over the Ljubljanca river in Ljubljana; and Divje babe - and the latter is not a creature of delectable female persuasion, but the name of an archaeological site  - the second word IS written in lower case, so it's not an intended typo. They also have Proteus Anguinus, which is a salamander - and no, not a space marine, but a colourless creature which lives in the vast cave systems and is completely blind - eyeless, actually. Ok, doesn't begin with a d, but I saw 4 or 5 of these and they're unlike anything I'd ever seen, so they deserve a mention.
Another thing worth mentioning is the Predjamski Grad, a 15th century castle built at the mouth of a cave (Moria must have been here - they have over 8000 cave systems!). I didn't have time to see this, but the photos I've seen are great. At some time this belonged to a robber baron, who was besieged by the local ruler when he became too much of a pain. Apparently a spy had infiltrated the castle, and according to the tale, the spy signalled the besiegers when the baron was using the garderobe, and a well-placed cannon shot ended his career (as well as whatever it was he was doing - nuff said!)
Cheers,
John
