Hi!
Ah, memories...
To think I actually had those once upon a time long ago when I played that game.

I think I had most of those when they were first released, but gave them away long ago...

Thats it, I am old! I really like these old Marines, they are my favourite incarnation. I have a few still on sprues lying around somewhere waiting for some paint... Good to see the old Dreads as well. Ahhh, memories.

Brings back some great memories.
Too bad the rules dorks had to go and ruin it.
Sold off all the 40k stuff and have not looked back with regret.

Quote (dafrca @ 02 2005 Jan.,17:05) | Too bad the rules dorks had to go and ruin it. | Hehe, actually dafcra I think the current incarnation of the rules are a vast improvement on the orginals! Meaning Rogue Trader (yuk - played a fair bit of it but it really was not that good), and 3rd edition (much better but prone to mono-tactics such as rush attacks with marines in rhinos). I never played 2nd edition.
I used to think of 40k as 'Fantasy with Chainswords' because it had such a 'run across the table into close assault' look to it. However 4th has hurt the monotactic rhino rush (being in a transport when it's shot up is really bad (as it is in epicA)). Also there are two types of effective shooting now - at close range small arms rapid firing bolters/lasguns/plasmaguns really cut things up bad if they are not in heavy cover (two shots each), and the old long range shooting is just as effective as ever
4th edition units tend to fall into one of 3 main types: assault, firefight, long range firepower with some doing a combo. The game is surprisingly tactical and I have to say that no-one was more surprised than myself... its fun to have the big figures clunking around for a change as well.
Ok back to painting the 6mm marines again!
