If someone were to build Tyranid Terrain what do people think it would look like.
For example I wanted to get ideas on what a marine company would face if the tyranids were just settling on a planet to devour it? if there was no resistance I wouldnt think that the fleet would hang around and the fighting infantry wouldnt be wasted on mopping up after themselves so what would a nest look like? Would the surrounding ground around it be total dust?

Sounds interesting. For some reason the picture of the giant Saarlac from Star Wars Return of the Jedi springs to mind. Don't know how it would work from a scientific point of view but visually I think something the size of a CD coming out of the ground would look pretty cool.
Cheers!

ah well thats a different point of view, I was thinking on the lines of something really slimy and spikey with slime advancing over the ground from a nest and sort of somthing like out of Aliens watching over things

Movie inspirations:
Aliens Starship Troopers Evolution
Or you could just find an H.R. Giger's book....

Try Forgeworlds' Nid stuff for 40K - the Spore Chimneys are just the thing - I've got two, big for Epic, but if reproduced on a smaller scale...

I'd have to agree, lots of spiky, slimy stuff in a pool of sorts, if the great devourers had only just installed themselves I guess that a little would still be left, anyone know what sort of order Nids eat things? Mammals and reptiles first, then plants(?) I'd guess.

Anyone remember StarCraft by Blizzard? Remember the bug aliens you can play (can't remember the name). That's what all these posts reminds me of.

I would go for Earth-with-a-twist, large organic spires, lots of beasties, not necessaily slime everywhere but Aliens-in-technicolour.

Actually, the original Space Hulk was released just after Alien II - certainly no coincidence.
