GHQ is too expensive.
Go for Scotia first since they have the best coast quality comparison.
C&C has American prices but are a close second to GHQ and are sometimes superior.
H&R / Navwar are good for filling ranks.
Avoid Irregular although they are functional.
---
You will bleed currency if you buy GHQ. You can 2 to 10 times as much stuff if you get another brand like Scotia and, better yet, you can control the quantities (GHQ comes in pre-packed lots that can truly be a pain).
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Ahhh. The eternal gamers dilema! As I read your post, Maxsim, my head was nodding in agreement and going for my wallet in approval. However, my heart was a nagging voice in the corner explaining that after shipping from the US for C-in-C and buying from the UK for GHQ, the price is not so different after all, particularly with import tax in this country!
As for Scotia, they are nice, but glancing through their web site and speaking to a friend, I discovered that they specialise in those more abstract areas, having very little in the way of WWII British armour at all!
I like Scotia, and I will get their trucks, but if they dont make it then I cant buy it.

It is true GHQ is pricy but very nice. Their Mujahdeen (sp.) Infantry would make good Cultist/PDF/etc. If I had to I'd buy GHQ, then CinC and finally Scotia or Irregular ... but that's just me !

Hi!
I just cant bring myself to buy anything but GHQ for WWII, its just TOO good IMO. Ofcourse its expensive, but after dealing with GW for so many years, is expensive a good enough reason not to buy from them.... ?
Just a thought.

Hi CyberShadow,
Ahhh. The eternal gamers dilema! As I read your post, Maksim, my head was nodding in agreement and going for my wallet in approval. OK. However, the Heroics and Ross / Navwar figures are a much better value, but if you want the fancy detailled minis, go for it. I have some.
As for Scotia, they are nice, but glancing through their web site and speaking to a friend, I discovered that they specialise in those more abstract areas, having very little in the way of WWII British armour at all! |
Yes, the Scotia pieces are hit or miss. However, for the pieces they have, they have the best value out there.
I like Scotia, and I will get their trucks, but if they dont make it then I can't buy it.
OK.
Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
