Hello all,
first time poster here (though I have posted these pics on the epic forum over at specialist games). I have been painting minis for WH40K for some time. One evening I located my old Space Marine game (the original Epic game) = lots and lots of plastic space marines and rhinos and landraiders. I decided to try to paint a strip of marines and found it really fun to paint these small fellas.
So I decided to try and manage with a small army, mainly comprising with the pieces from Space Marine, ie tactical infantery en masse. As all the minis are old beakies I decided to model an old chapter, as my chapter in WH40K are the Death Guard of nurgle I thougth it would be fun to paint my army as Death Guard pre-heresy.
The long strips of infantery stand are, in my opinion, really boring as they do not have a lot of space to model scenery or shift the stance of the infantery, so I decided to use large round bases instead (metal washers).
Anyway, here are some of my bases, most of them include one conversion or another.

Hi and welcome. I saw some of your stuff on the SG site as well. Very impressive indeed! How big a Deathguard army are you planning to build this way?
Cheers!

Hi,
thanks for your kind words. I plan to build a complete 4th company for starters along with some terminator stands and Landraiders from the 1st company. Then I will se. I have also bought a few titans from Forgeworld so my army will include those to.
I think the titans will belong to the DeathHeads legion, there are very few indications what colour these legions used so I guess I have free hands
Actually the DeathGuard colourscheme from AdeptusTitanicus was white and red (whole body white and right arm red) thats not exactly the colour scheme now a day.
I will post some new pictures soon, as of now I have 12 infantery stands (tactical) with transports ready.
cheers

Welcome Drax, and congrats - that's a great bunch of marines there - nice colours too - that scheme works great.

Here's a few pics of the Death's Heads Titan Legion colour scheme from Adeptus Titanicus. It might tie the titans closer to your marines if you go for a more "nurglish" colour palette like you did with your marines. Anyway just for inspiration: http://www.armorcast.com/warhammer40k/index.html (Go to the "Painting guide" link, look under "Chaos titans")
Cheers!

Seriously sweet work..... how long does it take you on average to paint a stand of these?

I paint them 3 at a time, and it takes about 6-12 hours with the conversion work included. I would say 2-4 hours a stand.
but then again I have never been a particulary speedy painter.

Great work Krax, the scenic bases look terrific. 2-4 hours a stand for that standard is much better - either way (time/quality) you look at it - than I do.
