Yeah... I have to admit I don't love the e40k phantom... I gave mine two D-cannons and painted all the raised ridges a different colour to try and break up the simple green scheme the GW staff painted theirs. ?

I've seen one conversion of the e40k phantom on the net, where it was given a really active pose and it looked really good... too much chopping and reassembly for me tho ?:D ?In the time it takes to do an extensive conversion I could have painted another 2 units!!

Hi!

The parts for the phantom though made great proxies for a necron titan. Especially the torso that looks skeletal.

I really need to get a picture of it for you guys....

Well, I think a new Eldar Titan would be something to look forward to.  But I imagine it will be years before we see anything ... hope I live that long ! :{

Hi

I must be in the mminority then. As I prefer the Epic 40k era Eladr Titan to the earlier ones. The AT era Eldar titans were just too spindly to be war machines IMO.

If anyone has any of the newer ones I am sure I can find them a good home!!
:D

Am intrigued by the prospect of new Eldar super heavies/titans. Carl- are we likely to be surprised good or surprised bad???

Cheers

James

Well, it's subjective and I am sure some will find something to complain about, no news flash there, but 'I' was personally bowled over by the complete re-designs.

I would say 'surprised good'. They are quite a departure from their previous looks, but you will just have to wait and judge for yourselves as I am sure tastes vary.

For obvious reasons I'm not going to go into any details, so please don't ask. All I will say is Jez did the detailed concepts and a great deal of thought has gone into them.

Regards
Carl

Without giving away any confidential details would you say they reminded you more of the AT era Mk1 Eldar titans or the E40k era Mk2 ones?

Or are they a completely different look?

Cheers

Like Carl, I dont want to say too much, but I can add that the new Super Heavies are being sculpted by FW's master whittler - Will Hayes. Martin Footit is doing the Revenant & I'm not sure on the Phantom/warlock yet.

I know Mr Hayes has some fans on the boards for his previous work, and I personally think it can only be a good thing to have him onboard for E:A models.

Whilst I havent seen the miniatures yet (I believe the first masters were due last week) the concept sketches I have seen look great.

I'm booked for painting the Studio pieces next month - I'll try my best to get permission to post painted previews, but I cant promise anything & suspect Fanatic will want to get the first showings on their site.

Hi!

I'm not too worries about thier super-heavy designs or vehicles. I dont think I ever saw a GW epic vehicle I didn't like.

Titans are another matter. I like the old gothic look. The newer BT-like warlord example I dont like. I didn't care much for that new warhound either (although the paint job is a great).

If the new phantom looks sleek like the orginal one, I'll like it.  :)

Mmmm.. I definitely agree, if what we get is remotely as good as the stunning stuff he produces for FW -Epic and 40k scale- I'll be very happy indeed!

Hi!

I'd rather see pics of the "done deal". First impressions are important, so lets see the model in its best "light".

Version 3.2 up in the Vault, more changes upon changes.  Frankly, all the changes ocurring, I would advise anyone planning on converting an existing Chaos force to the Armageddon lists to wait a bit till things settle down.  Unless of course you enjoy repainting or rebasing, that is. :p

This is why when I was playtesting, I first used just carboard chits and tried different list/units until the list was "finalized".

I remember the angst when some people forgot that the lists in the vaults were/are playtest lists and then bought, painted, or rebased their stuff only to have it change a few weeks later.

Me, I just tossed out the cardboard chits when it was changed.
