No worries! Had not even considered Self Planetfall to begin with... But I've heard more than once that people like the 0-2 limit on drops from the small spaceship. I think it should be really hard to have a Tyranid list that can drop all at once, as that could easily get out of hand, but as part of a turn 2 or 3 Drop/Tunneler/Teleport surprise it's pretty fun.

And here's another pretty extreme one I'd like to try, going all out on Hive Nests and Lictors. Biovores become a lot more viable when you can get them into the battlefield like this, and it's possible to create massive AA screens with the Gargoyles. Having 4 formations of Lictors could really get nasty as well, especially against a low-strat opponent.

Yeah the WE list please post a BatRep for. I'm very skeptical of the lictor heavy list though. They are an unreliable glass cannon. Do the math on the formation of 5:

TP = 1 BM statistically
They will be going second.
1-2 kills requiring only 3 hits. Easy for most even moderatly shooty formations since the lictors are LVs.
Defending against it i would move out two of the formations threatened out of CC range (if possible depending on objective range) and shoot breaking two formations. Reasonble chance one of them will fail to activate and have to do a hold action. So after your spam TP only one formation will actually get to assault and your opponent if they are smart will set up for supporting fire on them when the move and shoot the other 2-3 (eldar triple retain) lictor formations down. The broken lictors will never rally either needing 6's. The list only has 4 non immobile formations on the board pre TP so unless you are spammjng them in first turn you will be badly out activated. If they do come first turn they will all be destroyed for little consequence. No point in taking more than 2 nest formations as you can only garrison 2 of them. I dont mean to be rude but I think that list will disapoint 19 times out of 20.

We'll see how well it works, but even if the Tyranids don't go first they'll be quite likely to get to use at least 2 of the Lictors. How nasty that is really depends on the match-up of course.

And the rules actually state that you can garrison as many formations as you like, but you can only put 2 on Overwatch, which isn't really a problem in this case.

Having 2 Nest Swarms on each forward objective could be powerful, as they're 4++, Fearless and Thick Rear Armour. Not something you get rid of in a hurry.

Clarification question with planetfalling spores. The rule says: "After all Mycetic Spores have made planetfall, they attack any enemy formations within 15cm. "

Does this mean
1. Every unit with in 15cm takes a hit on a 6+
2. Each formation with in 15cm takes one hit on a 6+
3. Every unit in each formation that has at least one unit with in 15cm of the spore takes a hit on a 6+.

I assume its supposed to mimic a drop pod. Drop pod rule: "After the drop pod lands, its Deathwind attacks all enemy units within 15cm. Each enemy formation attacked receives a Blast marker for coming under fire, and an extra Blast marker for each casualty."

Thanks for spotting the error. It's sloppy wording on my part, mixing up "formation" and "unit". The intention is of course that the Mycetic Spore should work like a Drop Pod.

Did some fairly big changes to the list and bumped it to 4.7, which is now the new approval candidate version. This of course means we got to re-start the playtests, but I'd rather do major changes now rather than wait.

The idea is to use the mini-swarms in the first turn to basically soften up the opponent's deployment zone with blast markers, and then hope the fearless Zoanthropes stick around for whatever happens next. The Hive Nests will bombard from the objectives, while the rest of the list moves up and prepares for turn 2. The Raveners got a really good charge range, so they might be able to pop up in turn 2 and threaten a really big area.
