Hi,

never too late to let TC members now that this year will see the 3rd edition of Volcano In Paris NetEpic Tournament.

Image

This year, 20 players (new record) will reach us in Paris, France. They are divided in 4 teams of 5 players and 4 battles are planned (2 on saturday and 2 on sunday). During the 3 first rounds, it's Team vs Team (ETC like pairing = captain choices) and the 4th battle is the Champion of Paris round (pairing is done by orga upon individual ranking points). This year, all places have been filled within 12 hours and 4 Danish players reach us :)

Few limitations have been placed this year:
- A codex can only be selected 1 time per team
- 4000 points army lists
- no more than 25 activations per list (mandatory activations as Eldar Avatar does not count in this limit).

All lists can be seen there and we have:

- 3 Chaos (1 Nurgle, 1 Slaanesh, 1 Khorne/Slaanesh)
- 3 Taus
- 2 Tyranids
- 2 Eldars (1 Alaitoc & 1 Iyanden)
- 2 Squats
- 2 Necrons
- 1 Space Marine (Raptor Legion)
- 1 Orks
- 1 Imperial Guard
- 1 Dark Eldars
- 1 Sisters of Battle
- 1 Titanic Legion

I hope I'll have time to take a lot of pics !

@Craigm999: I'll do the necessary next year to announce the ViP there too but this year, registrations were crazy... We sent a mail to previous edition players and expected up to 16 registrations. Within few hours, all the slots were filled and we started a waiting queue! We checked with the shop and they were OK to let us place 2 extra tables and the 4 new slots were reserved within 2 hours. Amazing!
Speaking french make things easier but is not mandatory :D Our danish friends speak english (probably better than most of us) and we always managed to understand each other (even if we have to talk slowly and/or repeat ;)).

@Peter: Thanks!

Not my chosen version of the rules but good to see this so popular! Good luck with it :)

Do take and post up photos of the players armies. I'm vaguely curious what a Net-Epic tournament army looks like compared to an EpicA one.

Hi!

Scream's links gives you the photos of previous years.

4000 points in net epic is a good "tournament" size, since it provides quick games, so you can get in many in a day. So it is ideal for this kind of venue.

Overall though, its considered a "small" game", in net epic terms. While you could play less points (3k or less and this type of game can be played in 30 minutes by knowledgeable players), but the table looks a little scarce for my tastes and the amount of objectives needs to be adjusted since playing with the full objective complement can lead to wins with few casualties.

My default level was 6k. Which gave you enough to cover a lot of options, but not large enough to be unwieldy. It also yielded nice bloody battles, determined usually on the last game turn).

ViP 2017 is now finished and it was a great edition!

Before publishing the results and pics, here are 4 videos recorded from the shop where we played:

https://www.facebook.com/waaaghtavernep ... 710706393/
https://www.facebook.com/waaaghtavernep ... 604037337/
https://www.facebook.com/waaaghtavernep ... 897369741/
https://www.facebook.com/waaaghtavernep ... 774036320/

You'll see all the tables on the 2nd and 3rd video and the rewards on the last one.

On the 1st vid, you'll see Ronnie Eldar Army. It's more focused on discovery and explanations about NetEpic game system and why is 6mm scale so cool :)

Hi

Thanks for another memorable weekend in a hot basement in Paris playing epic with great guys all around.

The armies and tables will speak for the selves when pictures come online. What is hard to see is a fantastic effort put in by the organisers and just what a great venue The Waargh Taverne is. Throw in a grand dinner and party Saturday evening to top it off in the best possible manner, really shows the effort put in by Scream and rest of the team behind Volcano in Paris.

I live 14-16 hours drive (each way) from Paris and the trip is well worth it. Will I back? If possible yes, because playing with the french players is a great experience and on can never have enough gaming buddies around :)

Personally i like the ETC setup alot as it gives room for more specialised armies in the pair ups.

Best
Jens

Thanks Peter,

yes, top 2 players are very close and I'd like having seen a Ronnie vs Amiglopmu grand final, but after turn 3, Alsted was #1 Drunk team player.

I've uploaded all the pics I have but for a stupid reason, I resized them to 1280px width and this board does not accept images with a width > 1024px :|

If you want to see them, they are all in this FB album or on Epic-fr forum
