On 3d vs sculpted - personally if I were ever in a position to get stuff modeled I'd prefer hand-sculpting. Maybe I'm just old (I think I am), but while the digitally created stuff is incredibly detailed and look great, they always seem to feel a little 'soul-less' to me. Most of GW's new range (for example) just have no feel to them, no love or excitement. If the whole range were vehicles or space ships then I can see benefits to digital creations, but with any sort of people involved it just seems lacking.

Terribly imprecise comment, but there it is. Those sculpts, by the way, are amazing.

I love those large creatures, especially the armour they are wearing. Meanwhile, that beetle reminds me of the lack of useful stuff for starship troopers in 3mm or 6mm...

Holy shit! The bugs look amazing!
Great work by the sculptor!

On the topic of rules. I feel that epic does fit the setting and fighting style rather well. I would prefare a simpler, cleaner set of rules. I thought about Mayhem. But I will just try several rulesets.

On the topic of sculpting.
Despot, it's clear to me that you prefare traditional sculpting. So choose what you think is best for the range and your company. I personall think traditional sculpting is fine. If you can't get 3d sculpting integrated into your workflow. Use it for different projects.
I think 3D printing is more viable if you make it in-house and have interesst in the technology. I will invest into a SLA Printer sooner than later. But I will also skip the molding process and try to sell the prints itself.

Regarding the sculpting method. It does not matter. It's only about the skill of the sculptor. I have done traditional and digital sculpting before and while different, the tool is not the reason so many stuff looks soulless. it's the people doing it. Many 3D modellers are not learned artists. They have the technical skills but often lack the fundamental knowledge of design.

@Samsonov - Will try my hands on making a bunch 3mm Insect aliens. After i finished all the sketches for the dieselpunk setting.

Hi started scibbling the elves. I was not happy with these. As i wanted something more alien. Something more creepy. So I went up in scale. Meet the slender elves!

Image

This is already much more in the direction i envisioned. Need so scribble a bit more and try to make proportions that can be casted.

At 6mm the slender thing is a bit more difficult, but love the look, the long creepy limbs, very cool.

@thedespot29 - Yeha i knooooooow... I thinking hard about getting that feel transferred to the scale. Will take some itterations.

@McJakub - Thats good! :D

I am iterating on the idea a bit more. Thinking more about weapons and clothing. Hopwfully i finde some more hints.

Looks nice! You might want to think about the choice of name...

It wasn't me who chose it, it is more like a temporary nickname

If those giants with 25 foot long arms tossed a rock with a sling it would have an insane velocity close to 500mph
they wouldn't need guns.
