Hey giys

Just a quick question for the list posted on the tp site.

Currently Dreadclaw upgrade seems worded that you pay the 5pts once and the entire formation can use the dreadclaw

Image

Is this correct? Or should the dreadclaw be bought multiple times per formation much like a rhino?
If so, clarification on the document might need to occur

It's "+5 points per unit", we do the same thing for Black Legion.

@Bogenverleih

Here are the 3D printed Helldrake, Helltalon and Hellblade along side Hell knights, Hell Striders and Hell Scourges and Slaanesh Subjugator Scout Titans that I have in my army. The 3D printed stuff is made by a mate of mine. He has a lower quality printer, as most people do, so the minis need a little liquid greenstuff. They look decent once they are painted though. My mate recently made some Dark Eldar 3D venoms, and some Eldar 3D hornets for.

I still think the Defilers - a Noise weapon version should be included in the list.

I made a short list of other Chaos factions that use defilers or a version of them.

World Eaters has: Defiler Engines
Iron Warriors have: Defiler Assault Pack
Death Guard have: Walker Horde
Thousand Sons has: Deceiver formation
Black Legion has: Defiler Assault Pack

One list had the Slaaneshi version in it a while ago. I think they called them Debasers. They had similar stats to a defiler with shorter ranged disrupt weaponry. I can not find that list now.

The Debasers would make the Emperor's Children list more flexible, and give it some decent assault armour. You could include them as a support formation. 225 points for 4, add up to another 2 debasers or 2 dreadnoughts for 50 points each.

Hi, maybe this has been discussed already, but is it the intention that it should be possible to summon daemons (up to remaining transport capacity) in the Thunderhawk while offboard? As written, the rules are unclear about this. Took the army to the tournament in Copenhagen, and we ended up agreeing that I couldn't do it (which was a bit of a bummer).

Also wanted to check if it would be possible to boost the Stalker unit (30cm -> 45 cm range), alternatively make it cheaper (35 or 25 points). As is, I'm afraid it is mostly a waste of points. Alternatively, a dedicated defiler unit might (also?) serve as AA.

Lastly, I think the Subjugator and the Questor are slightly overpriced, and struggle to compete with the very powerful (and fun!) Knights unit. Think that the Hell-Striders could be given "Scout" to make them a slightly more interesting choice.

A fun list otherwise! Been playing with the retinues along with Land Raiders, which is a stellar combination. Perhaps Chosen are a bit too obvious as a selection, but I'm not complaining too much.

You are not able to summon daemons in the thunderhawk, they are summoned as part of the formation's action, as an air assault is the action of the thunderhawk rather than the transported formation, it cannot summon daemons as it may not have a daemonic pact

The war engine transport rules state that a transported formation may not take an action that turn, save to either shoot with the war engine, or take part in an engagement so they may not summon daemons while being transported

Awesome that this list is approved. Looking forward to trying it out in 2018 :)

Well done Capt. :D

Thanks, FB.

On the stalker, I understand the frustration on the short range. An issue with changing it is that it is present in other lists at the developmental stage (e.g. Iron warriors), and making the unit better could pose balancing issues across multiple lists. I would love to make it cheaper. However, one of the Black-Legion flavored list design constraints I took on board was the lack of cheap AA. Hence keeping the stalker at 50 points and dropping the slaanesh defiler.

Under the current construct, the way I overcome the stalker's weak range is to use retinues with stalkers as garrisons, extending the AA bubble early in the game. If I have the points, I also buy 1-2 dreadnoughts to soak up AT hits if the adversary happens to get a LoS to the stalkers (which I tend to hide behind a building so they don't get sniped). Along with replacing CSM stands with Havocs, these garrisons can be quite good shooty FMs.

So, in the tradition of Sub-ACs everywhere, after looking at this discussion about AA and defilers over the past months, I'd like to float an idea that is completely unrelated: cultist formation(s)... Inspired by Kyuss's House Devine Knight list, I thought it would be really cool to include a basic cultist support FM, one that could be upgraded with land transporters, aspiring champion, and pact, but nothing else. Maybe only 0-1? Not sure if that's worth the effort, but just throwing it out there.

That said, options and opinions on defilers and stalkers (especially from the adult supervision of taccom - ACs, ERC, because context with other lists is important - or maybe not) are welcome.

Please playtest against NetEA approved lists (for eventual v4.2):
0-1 cultists FM as described above in a support slot
35 point stalker
Black legion version of defiler in the Knight pack

Some good suggestions for 4.2!

Not sure if the B L Defiler would be an upgrade to the Knight formations? Or just an option to take defilers instead of Knights?

A good idea to start making changes. The list is rather bland and not many builds and lacks flavor. After looking at the death guard list and all the cool toys they have. I want that for Emperors Children, they deserve some new toys. A Debaser would work, some slaanesh war egines besides knights, the cultists would be cool, maybe making noise marines a core choice.

I take it the Cultists stats are in the House devine list?
