Yeah....I dont care how much I have on my PB accounts or how much traffic their is, I'm not paying €400 a year. That's almost 6 months food shopping right there. Plus they are shockingly bad- the site is slow and cumbersome, flooded with PB pop ups, dreadful banner ads for outside companies- not even sure if they still do it when you pay, but the uploading photo video ad they would bombard you with was always ridiculously loud, and would often catch me out, especially as I do a lot of work in the early hours of the morning.
Also everything is pointing towards photobucket closing its servers very shortly. Paying them might be a good short term, and time saving solution, but I dont see them lasting out another 12 months, not when bigger storage/hosting companies are shutting down right now.
If I was going to pay for photo hosting, I'd go with a far more reliable and less cumbersome site.
Surprisingly, google is so far been the best, with imgur not far behind.
Google gives you 15gb on the drive, with unlimited 'average' quality photos, and I think again about 15gb of HD uploads. Plus the blogger stuff is also free. You run out of room, simple make another free account. I have three or four google accounts now (though one was a freebie from college, which was 50gb, which I use to watch movies or read from my mobile on the go). The only downside is the copyright issues- google can claim ownership over anything you upload or write on their services. But really, that only affects people that want to blog and publish later on, or similar things. Showing off some models is of no interest to anyone really!
Imgur is also good, though I dont think you get as much storage, it is easy to use. Yes, they now have ads, but they are not as intrusive as other photo hosting sites. Has some good features like album sorting and has two built in communities with wargaming in mind.
