There's space for another track in the back (in the middle) - think that would look powerful enough to push the drill?

I would agree with Prim. I don't think it's a matter of tracks, but rather bulk. Maybe if the bits attaching the drill to the hull was perforated to look more like scaffolding or beams of something?

It would need a waste disposal system to jettison the rubble out behind the vehicle IMHO.

I suppose I could work that in to go between the tracks... I'll keep playing.

Maybe move the actuators to a vertical alignment? The leverage is I think what makes the current draft a little wonky - it seems like the drill would weigh just about as much as the rest of the vehicle. It also just takes up a ton of visual real estate. I think making the drill section mounted right on the front could be a solution, coupled with giving the front tracks some hydraulic lifts that would allow the front end to be tilted for drilling. Could reuse the cabin assets from the Jord while making it distinct with the front end.
I did a two minute scribble to try and explain what I mean. I eyeballed the render for the proportions but the relative proportions are the thing. Making the silhouette a bit broad shouldered would help differentiate the tank, gives you some room for vertical actuator parts and possibly frees up some room for waste chutes running on each side. This was just the idea I had for how to keep verisimilitude in a new visual direction, maybe you've had some thoughts along these lines already. As a well-meaning amateur I hope that this was useful critique and I didn't overstep any boundaries

Love it. Absolutely blown away.

The only problem...

For those of us planning on using them as the short stunty blokes in Net EA, the tunneler is a Warengine that comes in two flavours.
- Mole Tunneler (DC2, transport 10)
- Hellbore Tunneler (DC3, transport 16)

The Rhino sized 'Termite' isn't actually represented on the table.

So I'd like to see it at least twice, if not three times the size it is currently. Maybe by bolting two side by side, and then increasing the troop compartment and another track unit out the back?

Really like the multi-grinder style. I trust you to make it great. A bigger main vehicle or more obviously massive engine/tracks might help but, as noted, the drilling rig needs to make a hole big enough for the whole thing to advance.

I think the issue people are seeing is more due to the platform the grinding heads are mounted to being so thin. I'm looking at it and I can buy that chassis attached to that armature, but it doesn't look like there is any room for a mechanism to cause the grinders to rotate.

I think if you lengthened the armature a bit and bulked up the rear of that platform with some machinery that looked like it could run the drill it would work better.

When are we likely to see the Grudd infantry on the website?

A mate of mine has been trying to buy my old GW squat infantry , but I want to keep my army. This way I can just redirect him to your Grudd infantry, and he has his army sorted.

Yes, the Tunnellers back in "ancient" times were., from Lgt, Med, Hvy , i.e. :

Termite (IT should be represented on the table IMO.]

Mole

Hellbore

[I have mine with SMs & SM Traitor, IG & Squats, as it was an should be as in the "old days" ... ^-^ ]

All this being said, the Grudd Don't have to have all the same vehicles, etc., model types as other "Space Dwarves" do, IMO ... :whistle

And I use Exodus Wars Khazari with my Squats. And I'll probably add some Grudd to the mix. It seems "logical" that there be more than only "One" Space Dwarf/Squat "type" than just the Squats, IMO. Look at Earth's not only races, but ethnicities, regional variations, etc. So again, I'd think adding Grudd to your Space Dwarf type force(s) is a neat, cool and fun idea. If one is so inclined ...

Termites are ontable units in the Epic-UK list for what it's worth. Not that such things are really relevant.

Nice design on the tunneller :) I'd like to see a feasible way for rock debris to make its way past the vehicle too.

Yes, as I said, I think Termites should be a model on the board, regardless, which makes sense to me. As well as I have the models ! So ... ;D

And made a model of it digging out which I thought was neat ! 8)

Thanks for all the great feedback guys -

OK - Now I'm digging what's going on here - Look at this monster! (That's a 20x40mm base by the way - so It's basically the same size as the Nord - 10 man transport)
Image

This one is based on the Jord Chassis, the drill rig has been reduced in size and split into 2 smaller units, mounted to hydrolic arms. I also made a space in the middle to allow for debris to travel though the tank and out the back.Image

This image shows what's going on behind those big drills - two smaller drill units that can be adjusted - especially the top one that allow the driver to see out of the vision slit.Image

Thoughts?
