By request of our resident Primarch, I spent most of yesterday working up a Chaos Deathwheel. Rather than having linked tracks that spin, this version has the entire outer ring spin to generate locomotion. That's why the teeth on it don't look like tank tracks. Also, they were heavily inspired by chainsaw teeth, since I figure half the fun of piloting a Deathwheel would be running down enemies!

There are two silhouettes for comparison -- one 6mm, and one 8mm (or "Heroic 6mm"). I also put it next to a Fellblade for size comparison.

Thoughts?

Very clever take on the death wheel i'm impressed.

Looks like it would work as well which is always a bonus.

Great work Nolo!
This is the only death wheel that I've seen that looks like it wouldn't fall over, and can turn.
Nicely thought out designing!

Thanks, folks!

Yeah, Matty_C, my concept was that each "pod" has its own power plant and the wheel-ring actually consists of two independently-turning wheels. That way, you can use lateral steering in the same way a tank does to turn or even pivot on one spot. I tried to place the heavy cannons down low to act as a tuned mass damper to help the thing stay upright as it banks around curves and whatnot.

Hi!

Beautiful and mechanically consistent, what more can you ask for? LOL!

Coolness!

Indeed, as this is IP neutral it would be great to see casts as a cheaper alternative to costly 3D prints

yeah that'd be an awesome resin cast centerpiece model! Needs some chopping up to work (I've got ideas on that if you're interested - PM)

I've uploaded the model to Shapeways, and it's a bugger! Over a hundred bucks in Frosted Ultra Detail. I'll have to carve it up and hollow it out more to see if I can bring the price down.
