Why not separate the Autarch out as a character with Invulnerable Save, Supreme Commander and nothing else? Then the host could add up to two Exarchs, and up to one Autarch per army.

That way, the fiddly weapons descriptions need only apply to the Exarchs.

I wouldn't mind, personally. It's not like I take him for his macro weapon ;)

So, that would be three characters in the unit; two Exarchs for +25 each and the Autarch for +50.

Two problems arise
- this approach requires an extra model / unit etc, which may be a bit tedious from a modelling perspective
- potentially people will argue for taking the Autarch without any Exarchs, which is more of an issue though not insurmountable

it's really not that complicated, just add an 'upgrade one exarch character in the army to an autarch for +50pts, the autarch gains the supreme commander and invulnerable save abilities'

I also like the idea of having the exarch weapon entry on the unit entries for the different aspect warriors, it's probably the most elegant way to handle it

Hi Everyone,

Well I like the look of the below, and I think it going to be easier to understand. If we make the autarch as only having supreme commander and invulnerable save abilities', Then that covers the autarch, nicely I think..points yeah 50+ seam right (Thanks Thinking Stone/ginger and others).....

I will say that the only thing i would look at changing is the Dire Avenger Exarch make it a (small arms) EA+1, and not the (base contact) MW, EA +1...I gather most would be happy for that to happen??

Umm, the idea of the Autarch character being added to the Exarch does remove one of his weapons.

Could we have two stats, one for each type of Autarch (CC and FF) that adds the alternative EA weapon to the Exarch?

As for the Dire Avenger Exarch, changing his weapon to a (small arms) EA+1 gets my vote - though I am not a purist :)

In current 40k one valid weapon option for the Dire Avenger Exarch is dual-wielding Shuriken Catapults- which fits the Small Arms EA+1 quite well. This is the only option I ever give him in game, as while Dire Avengers are supposed to be 'all-rounders' the game has moved on, upping the CC abilities of specialist CC units so that Dire Avengers have simply been left in the dust in that regard.
I would certainly be more inclined towards taking Dire Avenger Exarchs with a Small Arms EA rather than combat EA.

Although true, most Aspects are specialised enough that this probably won't matter. If not fighting with the Aspect's preferred weapon option, you're looking at missing out on one dice needing a 5+. If they retained the CC MW then I may complain about this, but if they lose that MW then it's not a big deal to me either way.

I like the large list- it's definitely the clearest method, so long as people don't mind sacrificing the space on the summary sheet (not really a big deal as that already extends to 2 pages, with half of the second page empty).

Heh. I didn't even know the Autarch had an extra weapon. I only ever take it for the SupCom reroll.

Ha you are not alone there!
However some of us need every little bit of help we can get. And besides we don't want to need this key character in the face of the power-creep elsewhere in E:A now do we
:D LOL

Well a howling banshee autarch would be nice with a MW FS :)

But honestly I doubt I would miss it. It's a slight nerf for SS. HBs not so much, as they basically get FS instead. And as for the FF aspects, if you're using the 5+ CC attack then things are already not going your way.

Well and here I am using my Autarch for the MW in my SP unit ^_^

I would however very much like the exarchs to be standardised even if they become a bit unwieldy in the army list. Right now they are counter intuitive and hard to remember when actually playing. The epic UK version is really smooth in the table top, both for myself but also for most of my regular opponents.

Very abreviated battle report.

viewtopic.php?f=84&t=33496

Conclusion:
BT are too powerful.

LoL, much depends on both the BT build, whether it was “blind”, and especially on the opponent’s army and how he plays. If he lets you carry out your strategy without paying BMs on your formations, then you are likely to win.

If you check out my many games with BT in the E-UK tournaments over the years, you will find that I average out at roughly 30% wins, with similar percentages for draws and losses - so my subjective conclusion is that BT are just fine. :D
