I've been burned a few times now and have complained in the past to the strains of "that's the seller's right" but I thought I'd give trading another try.

Basically, a WTT/WTS note goes up. I PM the seller. We work out a price(one offered by them BTW). All seems like it's going ahead then I see it sold to someone else because the seller got a better offer after the fact and didn't even consult if I'd like to offer more.

I can see that the seller's right is to get as much as possible for it, I don't take issue with that.

But if that's the case, stick it up on eBay first. Don't screw people around on Taccomms.

I'm not the only person who feels this way given I received PMs from other people.

Just to be clear. I do not blame the seller for wanting to get the best price for his gear. I blame the system in place.

I have been guilty of this somewhat. i posted something came to an agreement with someone then didnt hear from them for four days even to my messages that i saw them read. so i sold them for the same price to someone else the person finally got ahold of me and asked about paymeny when i said i already sold the item as i needed money they never responded and wont respond to any of my messages anymore. I didnt like feeling like the bad guy but oh well it happens.

sorry abouy my grammer this phone sucjs at trying to edit stuff.

That does sound a bit rough, if you're going to play it that way you should really be given a chance to counter offer.

I just want to say that hasn't been my experience on here at all. Everyone I've dealt with have been thoroughly decent and reasonable.

To repeat:

This particular board relies heavily on the honesty and trust of the members here. In addition, I am unwilling to impose hard rules about conduct here. However, while the threads are largely in the hands of the trader/original poster, I would like to suggest certain 'good practice' principles as advisable for trades conducted.

Reservation by Post/Message

All trades should be conducted in the open, via standard posts in thread. I would like to discourage members from sending Private Messages (PMs), emails or other private methods when asking questions, making offers or requesting reservations. This stops disappointment when the item that you think is still available has already been reserved through 'hidden' channels.

Now it's clear this is not always what happens, and that this arranging of sales by PM is at the heart of these misunderstandings. It's impractical and largely impossible for the mods team to force these guidelines in any way, but when trades are conducted through private channels these things can and will happen. I suggest that in the future we all make our offers on the relevent thread, and reserve PMs for private details such as payment and shipping details only. Hopefully this will minimise further disappointments.

I've had some trades go wrong -- in one case badly wrong -- on bartertown, but never here. The folks I've dealt with on this site have always been top-notch.

He's a member of almost every epic and 6mm facebook group I am, and he was offering out tons of minis, but withdrew his massive every thing must go sale when he wasn't being offered enough money on one site.

A BIT OF A WARNING FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DONT USE FACEBOOK OR MISSED THE DRAMA!

There is a chap on several of the epic groups that is using a fake profile going by the name of 'LEMON RUSS' (correct spelling.

Hes been asking all kinds of shady from asking about who makes forumware, to sounding like a scam artists trying to get people to buy stuff of ebay for him and post on (not shady in it self, but as he has a fake facebook profile...)

Couple of people called him out on it, and so did I, didn't want to see the person offering to help him get burnt. When he denied what I said he had been doing, I posted a screenshot of one of his original posts asking about forumware- and I was promptly blocked by the person! (I can still see him on my old facebook account, so I know hes still there!)

He posted his ebay user name (saweus6) too as a way of trying to 'prove' he is not trying to scam any one, or trying to access forumware.

I'm not the only one to have spotted him acting shady but I'm passing this info on the one of epic pages admins and posting it on here too, in case any one else spots him acting shady.

There's an Eric Fontaine associated with the NOVA Open, a con out of Arlington, VA. Given:

  • saweus6 is based out of Arlington, VA according to eBay
  • both are offloading Epic (including SM/TL Knights, with saweus6's going for cheap at the end of June)
  • and the C&D that went out in early July involved Knights

I'd be willing to bet that they're the same person.
