I also wouldn't mind seeing them get a bump

Currently I compare them to a hellhound, they both fill a similar role in bumping up a units FF potential.

Some comparisons though:

Hellhound save is 4+
Immolator 5+
Exocist 4+
Predator 4+

Now I understand why you've started here with this save, basing it off the rhino. But ii suggest we at least stat is at 4+. This bring it inline with it's bretherean and makes it slightly survival on its formation of 6. (They can take extra armor in 40k, we can chuff it up to that)

Firefight Value
Hellhound save is 3+
Immolator 5+ MW

Once again I'm comparing to the Hell-hound. Now i don't expect you to drop this down to the 3+ of the hell hound, but i would expect this cleansing fire to be knocked down to 4+ as well.

Thoughts?

Yeah Mard I agree with the extra armour however the better firefight is a bit to good.
So I suggest a formation with the better save and being able to swap immorlator's with repressor's, 6 immorlator or 6 repressor for 250 points.

Immorlator 4+/6+/5+
Twin Multi-Melta 15cm 4+ MW
(small arms) MW
Faithful

Repressor 4+/6+/5+
Heavy Flamer 15cm 4+ AP
Stormbolters (small arms)
Walker, Faithful

And maybe make the firefight on the repressor 4+.

Would that be mix and match oppressors and immolators? I hope so as the shapeways immolators and repressors I got came in batches of 5! :)

Initially that would be six immorlators or six repressors no mixing, if this option is going to be added I reckon try them as separate for now.

Did some thinking and chatting with the guys while I was at the London Derby. The list is, I think, coming along well but it feels fairly one dimensional. Pretty much everything drives up real quick and throws itself into firefight supported engagements.

This is effective, no question.

But it's a little bit one note and leads to some redundancy (why take the 6 storm troopers+3 chimera when their role is essentially the same as the redemptionists, missions, retributors, etc. formations? Close range fire or firefight support) and doesn't leave a lot of choice. It's the same problem the Dark Eldar list has - there are about 4 CC specialist formations in that list, all fast, all transportable, the best option from the 4 is the Wyches so the other 3 are basically never taken as the Wyches do the job better.

I was thinking of making a few tweaks to the way the army can deploy or move on the table so that it's not a case of everything deploying at the edge of the deployment zone and charging forwards every time.

1. Give Seraphim Teleport to represent their ability to enter the table from on high, like angels descending from above. In the same way that Eldar Swooping Hawks do. Maybe add back in the 25pts you removed.

2. Let the storm troopers swap their Chimera for Valkyries taking the formation to 300pts but making it very fast and mobile and providing a unique element that the army lacks otherwise. If you want to avoid spamming BP perhaps give them Vendettas (3 twin lascannon and 2 heavy bolters for those who don't know) instead?

I like the change to give the Chapels BP3 each, it means they're scarier when working together but also means that when one gets taken out it still has enough firepower to actually hurt something (BP2 when you have to double to fire it is pretty depressing).

To make the Chapels more enticing would you consider any or all of the suggestions below?
1. FF4+ (it has to get close to shoot, in engage range of practically everything...except right now it basically loses every time despite being festooned with excellent close range fire weaponry)
2. Give it a Void Shield or DC4 (it's a building on wheels yet is no tougher than a standard superheavy tank, the extra DC would also make it much better at the role of close fire support it's slow speed seems to suggest for it due to the extra attacks and more difficult suppression)
3. Speed 20cm (means that a double from the rhino mounted guys can be kept pace by marching the Chapels, keeping them all together for fighting in turn 2 and increases the threat range to 50/70cm for the guns)
4. Give it Walker rather than better speed (it smashes aside trees and rubble as the might of the Emperor shines through, also means it super focuses on the anti-cover role and can keep pace with the rhino mounted elements by not being required to snake its way through trees)
5. No idea how to make the transport option desirable...if it goes DC4+Walker perhaps putting an Inquisitorial retinue inside, barreling forward and barging deep inside an enemy formation? Or maybe allow it to Transport up to 1 penitent engine in it's transport slots so you could have 6 flagellants+2 penitents huddled inside the Chapels? Up transport capacity to 5 each to allow a full set of redemptionists to go inside?

It might need a points increase if you add these but I'm not currently convinced they're worth taking with their current abilities at their current points to perhaps not.

In other news, my painting continues and I have some more Retributors on the painting table. Will be doing my Celestians next too. Going to order some Dystopian Wars stuff to be my Chapels - even if they don't go in a list yet they're a cool thing to have as a centerpiece, still looking for something to be the Cathedral.

I won in turn 3 with Blitz and T&H. It was a very tight game all the way with me putting the left flank under pressure in turn 1 and the battle sisters pushing me back in turn 2 and 3.

The right flank was mine the whole game because the sisters quickly abandoned it to bolster the left flank. I thought the army was fun to play against and it didn't feel overpowered at all.

heres a photo of the end. Sorry if i got any of the names of the units wrong.

Thanks mordoten, going by the photo were the Inq Warbands mounted in the formations of chapels, I would like to know how that turned out.

Thanks Scutarri nice to have consensus, I'm still struggling with some of the formations as you say they do mostly the same sort of thing.
Quote:
1. Give Seraphim Teleport to represent their ability to enter the table from on high, like angels descending from above. In the same way that Eldar Swooping Hawks do. Maybe add back in the 25pts you removed.

I like this idea it would definitely put something different in the list.

If you want to avoid spamming BP perhaps give them Vendettas (3 twin lascannon and 2 heavy bolters for those who don't know) instead?

Again this would add something different and as the Inq Warband may take them it would make sense.

Your right atm it lacks character, I like the walker idea and perhaps the better FF although adding extra stuff would mean an increase in points.

Cool, the Dystopian range is very good and looks very gothic. I would encourage people too use them.

Nice idea. On the other hand, I suspect I would not use it much. I have had the best results with my Seraphim in close cooperation with other units,.

I play more Minigeddon than full-sized Epic Armageddon, so I would not like putting the pair of chapels above 400 points. Though one could make a Minigeddon special fomration of a single chapel at half the price. BTW why must the chapels come in pairs? couldn't the formation be 1-2 chapels at 175 (or whatever points) each?

About the character of the army:

I field a "purely sisterhood" army, without any of the other inquisitorial or militia stuff. I just like the flavour of the Sororitas, but not the other stuff. And I suspect there may be a fair number of players with similar ideas.

So it would be nice to be able to give the Sisters several viable options for army character.

The mentioned fast, hard-hitting mech is fine, although it is rather close to a Space Marine force, especially since in your version of the army lists the Missions are bought with built-in transport (unike the 2014 compendium version, where you bought all trasnport, incl. rhinos separately)

The other variant that I think should be a serious option is a force that is best used in heavy urban terrain - sisters going in with bolters and flamers to burn the heretics out of their unholy sanctuaries - or defending some holy place against attack from dark forces. Pretty much what you read in a lot of the fluff.
Which is why I prefer the 2014 version of the battle sisters with flamers (ignore cover)+bolters as standard weaponry rather than the plain (boring) bolter. Also, I have modelled my sisters using flamethrowers.
Image

So this version should be infantry plus vehicle support with heavy close range weapons. I would argue that it is also better to cost the Rhinos separately rather than as free-built in transport. This allows to plan for cheaper garrisons

Greetings
Karl Heinz

The chapels are pretty fragile and my odd boy powered blitz brigades managed to take one formation out pretty easily. Have the Inq warband got killed by the exploding chapel. The other formation hung back protecting the blitz most of the time so they never saw much action.

We had a 4K game today with the sisters against my EpicUK Dark Eldar list. I'll write about that game next week...
