As far as I'm aware at the end of day 1, dptdexys is in pole position with 3 wins, kev and someone else are tied for second place

The only pic I took is of my terminator macro to-hit rolls against kev's warhound....

Only pic I've taken of note was Steve54s termies that came in at the start of T2, only to lose the initiative roll...

Despite being surrounded and taking loads of supporting fire they still took it to 3 rounds of combat and nearly wiped out the formation I engaged them with!

Finally home after a long drive, a long weekends wargaming, and scratching an itch to run a Great Gargant again...

Was great fun, big thanks to all my opponents for enjoyable games. Special mention to Mintroll for being the only person to NOT terrorise me with a spacecraft...

Congrats also to dptdexys for winning the event, kev101 for claiming the EUK Plate, and Steve54 for clinching the 2015 championship!

See you all in the new year...

Cheers
Reedar

thanks to all for a fantastic weekend of gaming, I had five of the highest quality, enjoyable games I've ever had, against friendly and sporting opponents

thanks to Steve for his hard work herding the cats and organising the event, Slayer Gaming for hosting, and of course Darren, Kev, Robin, Andy H and Steve for 5 fun and memorable games!

very quick reports

Game 1 - Darren (orks)

Darren had taken a bit of a toybox list comprising less-used but much loved models, he had a great gargant and supa stompa mob, bulked out by (in his words) "lots of chaff" my orbital strike landed in the big hole in the centre and did very little, but my aircraft had a field day strafing all his light vehicles for 3 turns, the gargant rumbled forwards then ended up heading back to Darren's Blitz ;) it went to four turns but some canny moves by Darren meant I couldn't push for the win and ended up way ahead on the countback for an 18-14 winning draw

Game 2 - Kev (AMTL)

Kev castled up and put everything on overwatch on turn 1, on turn two I waited until everything had activated, then tried to kill a warhound with terminators, confident they would kill the thing outright and avoid the supporting fire from the nearby warlord, my dice failed me (see exhibit A a few posts back) and the terminators ended up very dead.... I decided to finish the job with my assault marines, who failed to do the single point of damage required to the stupid wolf-bot and were similarly mashed by the warlord titan.... I stupidly landed on the wrong objective with my landing craft turn 3, giving kev a 3-0 win

Game 3 - Robin (Nids)

Robin had taken lots of big gribblies but only had 8 activations, when my orbital strike landed and blew a massive hole in the BTS formation, I comfortably picked him apart, knowing my huge activation advantage would lend me the edge, I took it 2-0 on turn 3

Game 4 - Andy H (Iron Warriors)

I'd never played Andy before, and after my orbital strike killed precisely zero stuff, I watched as Andy castled up on overwatch Turn 1, there was some back and forth but no real action until later in turn 2, we had a few fights, then Andy engaged my assault marines sitting on an objective in my half, he moved his BTS formation into support range, but unwittingly allowed two assault marines to counter charge into BTB, dragging the two blast markers into the assault, the assault marines ended up winning and breaking the BTS who eventually fell to the weight of blast markers, turn 3 came round and a thawk failing to activate to break a decimator cost me the game and I could only hold on for the draw after turn 4, the countback was 500 in my favour so another 18-14 result

Game 5 - Steve (Thousand Sons)

Turn 1 went my way for sure, I de-meched two retinues, killed a warphound and broke a second, however on turn 2 and 3 Steve won the strategy roll (a first for me for the entire weekend) and gained a big advantage, I managed to drag it to turn 4, with successive aircraft engaging and defeating his warphound on my blitz, but I ran out of stuff on the ground and couldn't stop a 2-0 defeat

I enjoyed every game, win or lose, and it was a great honour to win the players choice for Best Painted, many thanks to all who voted, I'm truly humbled, what a way to close out the 2015 season! :)

Thanks to everybody who came for making it a fun and easy event to referee and to Slayer Gaming for hoating us. Also thanks to Stugmeister for the prizes.

My games
Game 1 Dptdexys' Black Templars

I made a mistake at the start splitting my force into 2 groups rather than staying in a block, with his 2 air assaults, preds landing and shooting, devs podding, barrage, deathwind+ strafing storm talons Dave took out both Warphounds and one of the armour co in turn 1. After that I thought I'd weathered the storm but still had a chance, that went when my teleporting terminators (8 attacks+a MW)+ 4 flamers (8 attacks) FF Daves terminators who shrugged off 12 hits and won the assault. Dave then whittled down my activations and removed my transports to give him a 3-0 win.

Game 2 MikeTs Dark Eldar

This time I deployed in a block to ward off the teleporters/air assaults/portable webway and was helped by my spacecraft going turn 1 rather than his. My terminators teleported in but took 3 BMs and Mike plinked them to break them then my units moved forward slowly saving the Warphounds until last. This game was decided when firstly Mike did the Warriors out of the webway/incubi out of the portable trick which broke my BTS but left 5 TS alive. Then his wrack air assault lost to a retinue. I then countered breaking his Incubi with a Warphound. Mike really needed to do more damage with the assaults as though he had broken the BTS they then rallied summoned daemons and wiped out the warriors, possibly he would have been better off assaulting the warhounds/armour
2/3-0 to me BTS, Defend the flag

Game 3 Reedars Orks
Spaceship did well killing quite a few skorchas, rest of the first turn went well with the Warphound breaking a couple of KoS and getting rid of the supa stompas shields. Turn 2 my terminators teleported in but I lost the SR (see Darrens photo) and then Darren sustained with the Gargant on my 2 armoured co which I'd put too close to each other, fortunately he only managed 1 hit which a LR saved. A retinue with daemons then took out his soopa stompa mob. I then pushed forward breaking the smaller formations which didn't provide much threat. If The GG had taken out the 2 armoured co it would have been worth it but as a result of not moving it then couldn't get into my half
3-0 Blitz, defend the flag, take and hold

Game 4 Tiny-Tims Knights
This game couldn't have gone much better turn1, spaceship broke the basilisks and the errants and the defiler pot shotted with battlecannons killing a couple of knights. Turn 2 the terminators teleported in wiping out intermingled AA guns+Crusaders before the Warphound miserably lost a FF assault with militia. The BTS paladins broke my BTS in an assault who then ran away while the armour+warphound broke the 2nd paladin formation. Turn 3 I again went first and the warphound redeemed himself breaking the militia while a retinue wiped out the other militia. My other warphound went for the blitz but was beaten in CC by 3 paladins. Start of turn 4 Tim had a handful of militia, a tractor, the BTS paladins and 3 paladins left. The warphound shot the paladins and then 2 terminators+the daemons killed all but the Baron in an assault.
I needed one my formation to clinch a victory but couldn't quite do it giving me a 18-14 win

Game 5
Kyussinchains BT
Very similar list to Daves, this time though I only lost 1 warphound turn 1 at the expense of the devs. Crucially I went first turn 2 with my terminators breaking his and a retinue wiping out the preds. I gradually killed the ground forces and shot down the thawk loaded with bikes but Simon pushed it to turn 4 with his flyers and a desperate CC between a Warphound and a thunderhawk.
2-0 to me BTS+Take&hold
