Well I've been wanting to get my imperial fists on the table for a while, with a chance to use the options of trenches and bunkers, and my friend Phil A has been wanting to play some intro games of EA so, this is Phil A ( as imperial fists) with me as tactical advisor, playing Phil M ( scions of iron) at Rogue Traders, Rubery

Deployment
( sorry bout the pics not showing the whole board at once - I will do better next time)

IF garrison in a thin yellow line vindicators on left flank. (Still to deploy in this pic: LR1 and LR2 in centre and Fellblade on the right flank)

Turn One :
both sides were very cautious, the Scions moving up making the most of cover from the buildings, likewise the IF land raiders. A few shots at the scions from the imperial trenches and thunderfires just causing a few BM. The Scions answered back putting a BM on the scout formation occupying the building on the IF right flank.
Then the bloodshed started... The Fellblade took out a land raider. The Scion whirlwinds killed two tac marines in the trenches on the IF right. The other squad of imperial fist land raiders popped a vindicator from the scions commanders formation. Wanting to dominate the centre, the warhounds moved up, and raked the trenches on the imperial fist left with their Vulcan megabolters,y killing a squad of tac marines. ( they saved their plasma blast guns, keeping them cycling at a lower temperature for until they could get a clear shot at the land raiders). The scion tactical squad on the imperial fist right, doubled up and destroyed a scout rhino, putting more pressure on, although taking 2 BMs in return from over watch fire.
On the imperial fist left, the scions were more cautious keeping the LR back on over watch, still the imperial fist scouts advanced to forward position, with the vindicators behind them.

Here is how the table looked by the start of turn 2.

As expected, it all kicked off in turn 2. The warhounds advanced deep into the IF half, wiping out 2 land raiders with plasma fire. The undamaged LR squadron replied, stripping 3 void shields off the war engines.
Then with the centre of the imperial fist line threatened by the scout titans, the scions launched a pincer movement on the two extreme flanks. On the imperial fist right, the scouts were engaged and broken by the scion tactical squad, the three remaining scout units falling back to the board edge. On the imperial fist left, it was harder going and one of the heavy tactical's land raiders fell to tarantula fire.

Pouncing on the heavy tacticals, the six strong vindicator detachment rolled through the minefield (safely) and opened fire, but I'd no damage. However, recognising the threat they posed the scion commander targeted the vindicators with the whirlwinds and then the land raiders, destroyingthree tanks.

The fists attention turned back to the warhounds, and sustained fire from the thunderfires put on 2 BM ( thanks to disrupt) and one tactical formation put two points of damage on one warhound, which broke them.

The scion commander then chose to engage the imperial fist tacticals manning the trenches on the imperial fist right. Despite the entrenched fists having first strike, the defenders were wiped out, for no losses on the scion side, before the nearby imperial fist land raiders could lend supporting fire.

Here we see the IF right flank, end of turn two after two engagements won by the scions. ( the blob of yellow is the base coated Fellblade.) The scouts a the bottom left of pic have just rallied.

Turn 3: got too Exciting so I didn't take anymore pictures. The scions won initiative, again. The tactical formationon the IF left engaged the scouts with support from the heavy tactical formation and destroyed them. Retaining the initiative, the scion land raiders destroyed three vindicators wing out the imperial fist left flank.
The imperial fist full land raider squad targeted the rallied warhounds, killing one, a critical hit causing it to topple into the other warhound...but didn't damage it. The surviving war engine fell back broken. Later in the turn the Fellblade and the last two lawn raiders of the imperial fists would try and take down the Titan, but it survived.
In the centre the scions commanders formation engaged a second lot of tacticals in trenches, again he was victorious, but two tactical stands survived and rallied at the end of the turn. The other scions tactical squad engaged the Fellblade but couldn't get everyone into FF Range and lost the engagement, this would have given the IF scouts the chance to take back the objective if they had passed their initiative roll.

By the end of turn 3 no one had achieved a VC so turn 4 started with a very thin yellow line facing a much larger scions force who again won initiative. First two activations were landraiders and warhound killing three of the four strong LR detachment, ending any realistic chance of the fists killing the warhound. The last turn was a real scrappy affair; the warhound couldn't be killed and neither could the Fellblade so no one got BTS. Both T&H objectives in the imperial fist half were contested and the two surviving tactical stands from the centre detachment marched to contest the scions T&H objective denying them DtF.
So at the end of turn 4:
scions: TSNP
if : nothing
Scions win on vp.

Good game- some very unlucky rolling from the IF but they kept clinging on.
