That's as far as it got. Some of us on the project became playtesters for the next version (what became Epic A), and we dropped it. But the detail level went, for me, the wrong direction, so I am fond of Epic 40K.

We would have expanded the kinds of things mentioned in the To Do section, but we weren't planning to change the game. I think we would have nailed down which of the Firepower changes we'd use. For example, my impression was that applying AT hits front to back reduces their effectiveness, and you can drop the +5 points.

Hi,

I have pretty much stopped working on this as im not sure of the direction its ended up going in. What initially started as an attempt to get all the amendments etc all in the text of the book has turned into a different game.

Im not sure where to go with it if truth be told.

Steve

Hey steve, so then you have changed your mind as to the direction of this project well i'm sorry to hear that mate i thought we had a good set of ideas going that kept the games simplicity but updated the overall system. Oh well i guess i'll carry on with this one myself then if you've lost enthusiasm for it, not a problem.

If this is the case then why not just do what you intended to do in the first place instead.

Andy, thanks for the reply and i will be useing some of your ideas for titan weapons amongst others.

Cheers guys

++ UPDATE ++

This project isnt dead!

The core rules are still being worked on by myself and moredakka. Once we have ironed out a few issues, and reworded several bits then it should be much clearer and I will upload the core rules on a new thread.

Still to be done is the battles section of the rules, scenarios, terrain generators, etc along with some optional and advanced rules will more than likely be in here.

We have discussed the army lists and the way they are structured, but there hasnt been much progress yet. I want a much more streamlined and user friendly way of selecting armies, but want to keep the flexibility of the old "free form" army lists. More later.

This is a slow burning project, and with only 2 of us working on it, via email it will be a while before we see any form of finished product so to speak.

So, lots to do still. :geek

Steve.

After my first battle with EPIC 40.000 rules, I am curious to know more about it (battle report : http://tigibus-model.over-blog.com/2015/05/epic-40-000-rapport-de-bataille.html.
So, like SquiggleAmp, “any News?”

Hi guys first off thanks for the interest in this project.

As yorkie has been unavailable to respond to your question I thought I'd step in on his behalf. Unfortunately yorkie has had a serious long term illness within the family which has precluded any further progress on this project or much else for that matter. He hopes to return to it in the future but does not know if/when that may happen.

He is going to mail me his latest draft so that I may continue to work with it during his absence and also get some games in to try out the changes we wanted to try out. If for whatever reason he can no longer participate I will most likely be continuing this project alone at least for my own use. Yorkie was the real lead on this thing and I was only throwing ideas/suggestions at him for consideration. I have no idea how he planned to publish the book or what was going to end up in it at the end.

There was/is still much work to do just on the rules section never mind the battles and army list areas so I don't see there being a viable finished set of rules to try out any time soon.

Still I will try to keep this thread updated whenever there is something to pass on and I'm sure you will join me in giving your best wishes to yorkie at this most unfortunate time.

Thanks guys regards John

Hi all,

Well Its been a while, but I have started thinking about epic40k again, but have no immediate plans to continue working on the "fan" edition.

Instead, I thought id ask, what do you guys, the epic 40k players out there, think needs changing, updating etc? My original plan was to compile all the amendments from the firepower magazines etc and put it all together in a single updated rulebook. Since then it has grown arms and legs and become almost a different game.

Anyway, what needs fixing? Or is it a case of if it aint broke, dont fix it!?

Steve

Thanks Matt, I was asked to draft a concept for them a while ago and they've been sat taking up drive space.

Hi!

SquiggieAmp, GW should hire you to do their card/data sheets.

Most awesome!
