Intriguing battle, thanks as usual. On first inspection, the Tyranids seem to be at a significant disadvantage with only 11 activations against 15. This is compounded by having 2 formations off-table, formations intermingled and several double activations. But the larger 'Nid formations are resilient and the BT were unable to capitalize on their initial successes.

However I did wonder whether you were using the Tyranids list correctly
  • Brood units are ignored during assault resolutions, though it is not clear whether this occurred as the resolutions were not detailed.
  • 'Nids get -2 when rallying if a synapse unit is present, so I am surprised that there were so many broken formations that failed to rally each turn.
  • There seems to have been no attempt to "swarm" at all in the rally phase (to replace dead units). This can even be done for broken formations providing they are outside 30cm from enemy formations.
  • With First Strike and sniper on CC 3+, I am very surprised that the Lictors lost both assaults that they initiated in turn #2. Perhaps you could explain what happened here.

The first bullet isn't true for Onachus, UK maybe?

Certainly that is true for the UK, but perhaps you could explain the following taken from the compendium:-
"Synapse swarms ignore brood units for the purposes of determining formation strength during tiebreak."

Tiebreak, as in counting victory points at the end of the 4th turn when the game isn't going to a 5th turn. You don't count brood here, only non-brood. E.g., a Swarm with with 2 Warriors, 2 Carnifex, 4 Termagants and 2 Hormagaunts would be at half strength if it lost a Warrior and a Carnifex, or considered wiped out if both Warriors and Fex were destroyed, regardless if brood survived them.

Ah, thanks. Tho the other points still stand - effectively the Nids should be able to take casualties and break, only to rally at the end of each turn and recover at least some of the dead units.

Fair enough, though in this game you were able to claim intermingled several times including against broken formations which should be avoidable, especially where the units withdraw 40cm.

However despite the above comments, it sounds as though you are getting to grips with the BT as a list, pulling off the right kind of pinpoint assaults and making the most of your dice rolls, irrespective of the fact that your opponents are less familiar with their lists and getting poor dice.

Are you now in a position to present any more comments on the list as a whole?
