These Super Heavy German and Allied AFVs could certainly work for Baneblades ( Lowe and Maus) and Shadowswords (E50, A39, T28) ! I may have to bid !!!!! :o http://www.ebay.com/sch/rijklau/m.html? ... 3f353c13b6 Albeit being 1/144 (@ 12mm), they may be Too BIG ! :o :-[ :wah But I e-mailed the guy and he says a Maus hull is about 2 1/2 inches long ... which is about a 1/2 inch longer than than a Epic Super Heavy ... just FYI ... 8) So that might not be too bad ... :-\

Hi!

The Maus would indeed make a good super heavy. :)

That sizing would put it closer to 1/300 than 1/500ish thatGW made flyers and SHTs at so should be fine if you like truscale.

Hi!

I'm just bummed that metal is no longer in "fashion". Resin is okay, but for me metal is still "king".

Well ... I can go either way ... but resin/plastic is generally lighter for postage ... 8)

Hi!

That is a true and very necessary consideration.

It's that the durability of resin is, for me at least, poor.

Granted it is because I move so much and I can see it's frailties easier. Perhaps now that I am in a more permanent locale, I can enjoy resin more. :)

Yes, the old Forge World resin was for ?<?*^ ! Too brittle ... Too fragile ... Too expensive and Not surprisingly ... NOT GAMER Friendly !!!! >:( >:( I'm Reluctant to start working on my all my FW Epic Tau ... :-\ :o ??? But now most companies is much, much better. The stuff my Maus and Lowe is made of supposed to be pretty flexible ...

Hi!

I'm in the same boat with the Tau FW stuff. After all my bad experiences with the FW aircraft, I see all those thin resin pieces and wonder.

I may bite the bullet soon and see what happoens.

Yep ... I feel your pain !! ... In some cases I thought about selling most of it off and find suitable "proxie" ... 8) Here's what the guy that makes the Lowe & Maus says about his material ... Material

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What is ABS-L?
2. How does this material compares to the nylon material we used to use?
3. This is how we paint our models.

1. What is ABS-L? Back to Top
ABS-L is an acrylic resin used for 3D printing. It is NOT brittle as regular acrylic material. It is strong and tough when properly structured, and flexible when thin. But it still will break if bended too much.

The material is printed in a resolution of approximately 250dpi, or 0.1mm thick layers, to give a smooth model with sharp details.

Sometimes layering effect appears on sloped areas of the model which is a characteristic of 3D printing.

This material can be cut, sand, filed easily. It accepts regular model paints readily and can be glued with instant glue/super glue/Cyanoacrylate glue.

2. How does this material compares to the nylon material we used to use?

ABS-L has a smoother surface after painting and the details are sharper than nylon.

3. This is how we paint our models. Back to Top

i.). You can use rubbing alcohol to clean the model. If you feel some tackiness on the surface of the model, this is because of uncured acrylic resin. The easiest way to get rid of the tackiness is to put the model under the sun for an hour or so. The resin is cured by light.
ii). You can apply regular modelling primer as a base coat. Here we demonstrate painting without primer. We used Tamiya Acrylic Paint as the base coat:

You can use water based paint or enamel.
iii). To smooth out most of the layering, we used multiple layers of paint. First paint the model with brush strokes running parallel to the layering to get the paint inside the groves. Then brush perpendicular to the layerings to wipe away the paint on the ridges.

iv). We usually use Tamiya transparent acrylic paints as the second coat because they seem to be thicker and has a better "filling" power. The third will be the base colour of the model.

v). Then we add whatever detailing required, and apply weathering if needed.

So we'll see ...

The T-35 would make a cracking IG Baneblade or Guild Enforcer.

Yeah it would ... that's the great thing about 1/144, those super heavies work fine for our scale armies ... like I said, a FW Shadowsword is 2 inches/50mm long ... The Lowe is about 2 and the Maus 2.5 ...
