Not that I'm aware of L4. It would be very helpful if there was such a thing, possibly a stickied post under the General Science Fiction Wargames?

Just to confirm, do you mean DZC? Or Infinity?

Incidentally, I'm reviewing this thread and trying to bring together all progress on the Exiles. I may not manage to update this today as I have some more filming planned, but hopefully this will be updated not too far in the future!

Sorry mate, was in a rush earlier. I should have said I prefer the DZC minis. I think they would compliment nicely with the PB models.

Well off the top of my head, just for the exercise - GZG makes Bugs like seen in SST, and Kra'Vak that look llittle like Predator aliens. DRM - Andrayadas = Androids , Kraytonians = High tech Lizardmen, Skyth = Bugs. Exodus Wars - Tarragin = Feral Lizardmen , Gurden = "Demonic Dragons" , Edenites = Androids & Zombies , Khazari = Space Dwarves/"Squats". CinC/PFC - Felids = Cat people , Ha-Lu-Ki - large 4 armed "frogs'' , Raptors = High tech Lizardmen , Marthak & Cyborgs = humanoid Fishmen Aliens, Gastater(Reds) = humanoid aliens with big wierd looking helms/heads , Alien Mercs = see here : viewtopic.php?f=7&t=26837 ... MicroWorld - Kreen = Wasp and Frog type aliens , Lizard Riders = Exodite types , Beastkin = High Tech Bovine Aliens. Onslaught - Avians = Hawkmen aliens , Legion = Hybrid Cultists aliens , Okami = Very Hi-tech humaniod aliens, Sectnids = Hornet/Wasp like bug aliens. Plasmablast Games - Orbital Combine = Robots/Androids. Zombiesmith - Quar = Upright Ant Eater type aliens in WWI/Early WWII regalia. Darkest Star - Khiff = Upright Canine aliens in PA . Brigade - Cimexian = Bugs/Slug/slimy type aliens. Baccus/Command Horizen[sold to another company ?] - Alien Centaur-like creatures and worms. Troublemaker Games - Skinners & Gobblers = Redskin bald brutish ape/monkey like aliens , Eloi = pointy-eared big headed hi-tech aliens ... That's off the top of my head .... did I miss any ?

Sorry for not responding sooner L4! That indeed is an exhaustive list! Great stuff!

Sorry to everyone else who was following this thread which lay dormant for sometime, I've been distracted with other things!

Getting up to speed, I'm not going to use the Exiles fluff for the Marhaf but for the Progenitor line. There is something much better planned for the Marhaf force and I hope it will be published shortly (I'm not writing it.). So from now on, when you read "Progenitor" I'm referring to the fluff created for what we tentatively described as the Exiles...

There is a third Plasmablast range, known as the Orbital Combine. I'd like to start creating some background for them so would welcome thoughts....

Orbital Combine

With the Imperium stretched by incursions from Tyranids, Tau and increasingly Necrons - not to mention battles with ages old enemies such as Chaos, Orks and Eldar - there are many rumours of human planets seeking to break away from the Imperium. It is the ultimate heresy and the Imperium have been quick to stifle such insurrections with overwhelming force and total brutality. But in one corner of the galaxy, a rich group of worlds openly announced that they are forming a new faction, one which will prove far more difficult for the Imperium to stifle.

The Orbital Combine consist of over a dozen mineral rich worlds which have secretly been working towards breaking away from the Imperium. Their vast wealth has allowed them this opportunity. Employing mercenary Eldar, they built impressive armies that boasted impressive technical capabilities on the battlefield. For hundreds of years they built these armies and worked on their plans for independence, plans that through arrogance and egoism grew into a desire to grow an empire.

Since the worlds announced their independence and their creation of the Orbital Combine alliance, many other worlds have been in thrall to the wealth of the OC and Governors similarly defected to them from the Imperium. Planets flocked to join without any threat of force and suddenly the Orbital Combine became a real and serious threat.

They also began using their forces to attack and nullify worlds who did not join voluntarily. This meant that the OC forces have extensive experience of fighting Imperial Guard, but they have also been engaged in battle against other traditional enemies of the Imperium, particularly if they happen to live on worlds rich with resources.

With their forces scattered across the galaxy, the Imperium was caught unprepared for rebellion of such a scale. Unable to amass a force strong enough to crush the Orbital Combine in one swift sweep, they instead have engaged in a programme of reclaiming worlds one by one. Slow and bloody work, but the day of reckoning is coming for all of these traitors.

The Eldar helped the Orbital a Combine design their armies, something that is obvious from the extensive use of an Eldar favourite, Anti-Grav Technology. Other than that, the infantry of the Orbital Combine is of a similar structure to that of the Imperial Guard. Indeed, the Orbital Combine have found themselves allied with Imperial Guard forces when an OC world comes under attack.

Anyway, that's the beginning of my plans. Any thoughts? Anyone want to add to this? One big question is where in the galaxy are the OC based? I don't feel comfortable choosing an area as my knowledge of 40K lore is still poor...

Has anyone seen the Mechafront Kickstarter that is currently on the go? They are producing a 6mm range of all their mechs which could fit into a faction somewhere.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mechafront/mecha-front-miniatures

They are making a game which is primarily based around their models at 15mm scale, but they are also doing the mechs at mircoarmor/6mm scale to. They only have a couple of days to go on the KS, but could be worth keeping an eye on them when they actually hit the market.
From the looks of the models, I wouldn't have the faction as high tech as the Imperium or the other races, maybe a faction that is just discovering this sort of tech.
If the price point of the models are cheap enough, maybe they could be fielded as a sort of mech horde ;)

I think the more factions we can introduce into Epic the better the variety and hopefully the more fun that can be had!

Anyway, is there anyone more up on the 40K lore that can suggest the best place in the galaxy to base the heretical and traitorous Orbital Combine?

If they are Humans, they would almost have to be somewhere in the extreme 'East' edge of the galaxy, as they would have to be outside the range of the Astronomicon beacon. They might not be heretical or traitorous at all, just unaware of the rest of the Imperium.

Alternatively, and I apologize if this has come up already, those could be used as additional Tau Mecha or even as units in whatever revamped Slaan list eventually gets made. Possibly both.
