Wow. The quality of the units (models and basing) is fantastic.
But it was only when I zoomed in (viewing on mobile) that the level of the mini painting alone stood out for me - fantastic stuff!!!

I have finished one of the first warrior units I did. It's just one unit so perhaps not really worth an update in itself, but it marks me finishing my first playable swarm (netEA rules Small size).

I guess an all hormagaunt swarm isn't all that good in the game. I have started with them because I had the bases. I want to use round bases for the termagants and have made an order from troublemaker games. I want the units to be easily recognized for what they are by anyone I play, so rectangular for hormagaunts, old square ones for warriors and round for the termagants.

Time for a new update. I've done half of another small swarm, but haven't taken any pictures as I want to finish the whole swarm first. I'm still waiting for the bases I've ordered so haven't been able to start painting up my termagants. In the mean time I started converting a titan. It's a really simple conversion just hormagaunt and termagant pieces used.

It's a hierodule and I went for the BP version with a cluster spines weapon. In the netEA version of the list you choose between either that or a Razor Claw (a TK(D3) CC weapon).



I chose a devourer as the base for the converted arm, as it quite nicely resembles the old school version of the cluster spines.



A cut down fleshborer was used for the bio-cannon (the angle of the cannon wasn't the best for pictures).

First all thanks everyone!

Here's a short update. I've finished enough units for another small swarms. This gets my total hormagaunt count up to 10 finished units, which is all I need for the 5 swarms I plan to use in my first game. So that's one goal done, hurra to me

So it's 4 more hormagaunt units and my first termagants.
I've been experimenting a bit with water effect stuff on the three of the bases. At first (hormagaunts) I tried to paint the bottom of the water are (basically below the actual transparent water effect stuff), I didn't like. Looked to painted/not real enough. So on the termagant stand I instead mixed some different shades of blue into three layers of water effect.
I think I used to much paint I wanted it to look more transparent, and just give an impression of blue water color.

I've never done water effect paint before, anyone has any helpful tips on how to make the stuff look more like real water/have depth?

best tyranid army I've seen Borka, love the colour scheme, the conversions and the basing, the painting really makes them all pop out so well.... painting the eyes!! madness!! plus the water looks great as it is mate!

this is going to be spectacular on the tabletop when it's all complete, you should definitely enter it in epicomp this year
