i understand your concerns... Still, i think some kind of restriction about the battleforce entry would be nice. Not restricting it to a point cost not to tie the entry with a specific system is something good, but maybe say something like "at least X models" ? Something like 10 or 15 (15 = a tactical det with predators and 2 dreadnought in EA terms for example, i don't quite remember the size of formations in SM2/TL, apart that they were mostly company sized).
I think the whole point of the battleforce category is to show "numerous" models painted/converted to a good standard, which is IMHO as great a chalenge as making all your conversions and work on a single "museum standard" stand, and Epic is THE system were number should have some weight, don't you think ?

I agree 100%. Epic is the ONLY system where (sane) people have 30+ vehicles and Titans on the table. ?Not like some 40k nuts...
Thats why last year's Battleforce entry requirements listed that the force has to have this and that plus at least one war engine.
If you think this should be tightened up (and you have well reasons arguments for this), I'd love to see your suggestions- noting that the overriding principle is that it is not tied to a specific Epic rules version.

Hi!
The old battleforces from the days of heavy metal included a "large" model like a titan of preatorian class vehicle and at least a company sized acompanyment (say at least 12 infantry stands and 5-6 vehicles).
It looked very visually appealing.

Well, to make a proposition for the battleforce category rule, i'd propose :
Epic Battleforce - Defined as a grouping of complete units (under any rules version) that must contain at least three vehicles, six infantry stands (comprising at least one character stand) and at least one large model (Titan or SuperHeavy).
It may be a space marine detachement from either Epic:A or SM2 (support dets), with a comanding stand and a warhound, or a IG company with a CI, or an eldar host with a farseer and a Scorpion, etc.
Maybe the SuperHeavy(ies) should be optional, not to compete with the titan category.
This set of restriction make it mandatory to have diferent kind of units (infantry AND vehicules) and adding a character in is mainly because it would add some coherence to entries, making theses look as "real" little (or not) complete strike force. To make the battleforces look more like the old eponym Golden daemon category, we would need to put bigger number, maybe double those i proposed.
To ease comparisons, the first edition rule was :
Epic Battleforce - Defined as a grouping of complete units (under any rules version) that must contain vehicles, infantry and optionally one large model (up to 3 superheavy vehicles may be included if they are fielded in such units eg Baneblade Superheavy Tanks).

I like the sound of this, but I would certainly make the SH optional. I would keep the levels at about 6+ stands and 3+ vehicles.

Perhaps the "centerpeice" can be left open to include any type of titan, super heavy or even a knight classed model?

I like the minimum number of vehicles and infantry for each entry. I would like to see some sort of superheavy/WE requirement, but I realize that's difficult and making it optional might be better. I think 6 stands/3 vehicles is about right, but would be willing to go higher.
I like the "best conversion" award cutting across the categories, but again, I realize some difficulty in implementation.

Finally, Primarch, who would request a lifesized Sister of Battle when a life-sized dark eldar slave would be so much more compliant?

Just wondered if the photo submission will be the same as in the last comp. Will there still be a restriction of file size? I have to use a web-cam for my photos and I found that saving them to a small file size made them even fuzzier than they were to start with.

The ethos behind submitting the photo vice linking to your own (stored offsite) was that the photos couldnt be changed after submission.
The problem was the small file size limit allowed for attachement to the posts. I'll have to refer this one to C/S for the technical ruling on what can and cant be acheived here....

OK, time for two confessions:
I set the limit on size, and I set it at 75Kb for those on modems.
The size refers to an entire post, rather than the picture. So, you might save about 4Kb by not typing!
Sure, I can up the limit without problems. What do people suggest, remembering that some people want to see a whole thread in less than an hour!

Quite a reasonable decision it was too.
How about doubling it to 150kb, which should still allow reasonable d/l times, but increase pic quality dramatically.

Sounds good. I will also reduce the number of posts per page to about 10 to reduce the number of pictures possible with each page load.

Would it be with in the rules if I was to have my brifecase link on my picture so if people wish to veiw more pics of my entry they can do so? Again this is mainly due to my poo cam. It only pick up detail with close up shots so I find I nessesry to make a section of pics. Also nearly all my models are conversion so multiple angles are always useful.

Personally I'd like to be able to see as many pictures as possible for people's submissions. Just so long as they are not all on the first bit, i.e. you can look at the summery pics, then if you want you can look at any other pics the person has posted on their own site, or wherever.

My opinion is (and this will need to be verified by the comp mod) that it would be fine to show other examples with a link to your briefcase, but that only pictures directly uploaded can be considered as entered into the competition.
What I want to avoid is people posting a link to their pictures and then changing the pictures a week after the deadline. (Not that I ever think that you would do this...)
