I have 9 Epic Armies, including 30 Ork Warbands in 3 Hordes. And plan to make a few new Warbands with E:A and F/W models ...

Hi Shagrat, I'm currently working on Eldar, but I've got a soft spot for Moonz and Sunz, and once the pointy ears are done, I'll be working on a small SM force i've got an idea for with Orks in the background. So far I've only ever painted a few battlewagons and the odd Gargant - and 1 converted Landa (LANDA!!!! Green is good and Thundabad is go....oh, sorry, that's and old story... ). I've got loads of boyz waiting in the wings, a half-complete gargant conversion (Deffsta), and around 30 guntrukks... and plans for what I think a supagun should be like...

Another Ork player here, with a thing for speed, I like my bikes and buggies!
Markconz, I wish I could paint that fast, it's taking me ages to do my Infantry. Still, only 4 stands left to do, I must get started on them again.

Shagrat: In addition to the above, Maksim Smelchak has a sizable ork force, including more stompas than you can shake a stick at, with some... imaginative... conversions.
I have ~5000 in bad moons (basic ork army list), ~4000 in evil sunz (speed freeks army list), plus gargants. I also have ~3000 in snakebites (feral ork list).
In short, you're in good company.
Ask any strategic of tactical questions you like. I'm sure you'll get a plethora of opinions.

Shagrat,

I also have large E-A Ork force. I originally wanted enough Stompas and Boyz warbands to field more than 3,000 points of models. I have just kept adding to them (mechanizing them with B-Fs, adding Gun Mobz, more Supa Stompas, custom building Ork Bommas, etc.) and now the group is very large.
I had high hopes the E-A would really make the Orks competitive and a little different than they were before. The differences didn't come, but I think they are adequately competitive although I really miss the early playtest versions when the Orks could field some decent tank armies. They're back to mostly rabble now.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

WAAAGH RIPSKAR! I've been a Gothic player mainly since 1999 but Da Ladz aren't afraid of getting their boots dirty. I've just got the rulebook and I'm preparing my Ork horde for landings...

Does no-one else do the basing first then? I find I tend to accidentally run the drybrush over the legs everynow and then so basing first makes things a lot easier.
I'm with da boyz too, since E40k, might as well run through my painting technique (for da standard boyz):
-clip, clean and glue. -glue sand onto base -spray black -Do the bases: paint bestial brown liberally - chestnut ink - drybrush snakebite -paint the clothing and shoulder pads scab red -paint the skin goblin green (a sort of careful heavy drybrush so eyes and lip recesses aren't filled) -paint the guns scab red -paint the gun holding hand goblin green -paint the bayonet boltgun metal -highlight the clothes, guns and shoulder pads with blood red -highlight the trousers codex grey (looks a little messy actually but is absolutely fine from above) -paint the sides of the base bestial brown -bleach bone round the big gun, then skull white (I find white doesn't paint well straight onto black) -patch some watered down glue onto the base in 'grass-growthy-looking-patterns' and dunk in some GW flock (it's better than the local railway shop's stuff, imo... if about thrice as expensive )
I think that's about it.. I'm quite pleased with how it's turned out especially as I can get through a whole formation in a couple of hours. Think I'll have a full painted army in no time at all

Well been playing/collecting Epic since SM1, so most (like 80%) of my 9 Epic armies (including 30 Ork Warbands) are based on the square bases.
And those are harder to paint than the long E-40K bases...
I learned the hard way... Doh!
