Very nice indeed. I'm going to have to invest in a Tyranid army at some point. Really regret having fallen away from Epic at that point when they were on sale.

The Onslaught minis look really good, actually, making all the little ones readily available. No good source for slug-butt tanks, as far as I know, but they are something of an acquired taste anyway. Dark Realm has some Skyth that could be useful as proxies - they are nice enough alien monsters, but they don't exactly look Tyranidic...

Moving on, to April 17th (catching up on the present, here), where the Dominatrix (and her two mandatory gaunts) were ready:

Does anyone field a Dominatrix in with any other upgrades? If so, why?

On April 19th, the fourth (and so far, final) swarm emerged from the spawning pool, accompanied by a brood of Lictors:

This swarm is a departure from the others, where I use Hive Tyrants; Here, everything is INF so they can be mounted up in Malefactors for speedy delivery to the front line. The Trygons tag along here, they are a good "fast Carnifex", and cheaper than in a tunnelling formation.

My shifting projects

Having a three-quarters-finished Tyranids army on the shelf, I thought I'd start a new project, to keep focused. Or something.

I always wanted an M41 style Space Marine army, and with the recent shutdown of GW SG, I realized it was last call... So, I bought the bits I was missing, and here they are, after glueing and undercoating.

It's a fairly straightforward list, a battle company reinforced with armour, a thunderhawk, and some Legio support.

I've painted Angels of Redemption in 28mm scale for my son, so I thought I'd do these in the same colours; Here's a comparison pic of the color test models and their larger kin:


Here's the first completed formation, a Tactical Detachment with Rhinos, Supreme Commander and Hunter:

I'm sure I wasn't the only one that read that as "Lego support"

An understandable mistake. They are exceedingly bricklike But they are fine models, and I'm looking forward to painting them. I'll be using Legio Gryphonicus patterns, though I'm not sure exactly which. I rather like the mottled grey with yellow and blue trim...

Lovely paint job, I've always been a fan of 'classic' Genestealer colours on other Nids.
