Continuing my report:

Apocolocyntosis has already given a report on this game from his flank. But Game 2 saw the LatD facing off against the Imperial Guard supporting a Warlord and Warhound combination. We found out after the army lists had been agreed that the Chaos forces activated their aircraft on a 1+. I had dropped my all my aircraft in favour of more ground based AA – D’oh. With the Chaos forces allowed to start along the back line and the Guard forced to set up on the diagonal I played the game as a long delaying action rather than heading out to face the larger Guard force. This resulted in my formations slowly being whittled down but allowed me to send reserves (Lord of Battles & Coven supporting a Bloodthirster) to E&C in the centre. Didn’t change the overall result but was a different sort of game against a new opponent.

For the final game, Kyrt and I swopped sides with his Guard turning traitor and I dug out some of my Marines. On a new table I paired up with Kev and we split 10 000 points between us. Kyrt and Mark P had 6 000 pts. The objective of the game for Chaos was very simple - defend the Chaos Warlord. The imperials had to take down the Warlord, but first they had to break into the city. This could be done by going through the existing breaches in the wall or taking out the city shield and air assaulting straight in. There was also a second secondary target which was running the city’s air defences.

The Imperials went air assault heavy, two Landing Craft & four Thunderhawks and four formations of Terminators including three Chaplins and a Captain. They still had enough points to take two Reaver titans and a Warhound to attack on the ground.

More to come soon.....
