Orbiters Blanche and Giger

Image

Ships assigned to Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator missions naturally bring heavy ground to orbit aerospace craft to land the Explorators and ferry back any interesting artifacts found. A typical Cruiser complement would be two Baron class medium orbiters. They are not intended for military operations, so volume of simultaneous capacity is not an important consideration. Security of continuous operation is, however, so the ships always carry a spare, for redundancy

The Orbiters
Giger and Blanche were assigned to the Cruiser Leibniz for the duration of Stenberg Explorator mission 112, which left for the Black Divide in M31.

Note that these craft don't belong in any official list - they're strictly variant list material. I do love dropships, and these looked very Mechanicus to me...

Ordinatus Minorii - Borsig-Spline Pattern

Image

The Borsig-Spline pattern Ordinatus Minorus is an adaptation of an ancient template construct useful for operations in rough terrain. They were manufactured specifically for war purposes on Stenberg after the war broke out, and proved capable of traversing the rocky, frozen tundra of the Stenberg countryside more reliably than tracked vehicles.

Shown here are the Ordinati Minori Epsilon, Theta, Eta and Phi of the Valley Phi Army, seven weeks into the war, just before the pivotal battle for the Plasma Cores.

Image

The affectionately named "Spider" Ordinati are equipped with a Titan-class main weapon, selected for the mission profile (or from whatever the responsible Tech-priest has on hand), dual Void Shield generators and twin missile racks with limited anti-air capability.

Image

The Borsig-Spline pattern was revived by multiple Forges during the heresy war, mostly those siding with Horus. The pattern proved very popular with rebel forces, and was adapted to several different scales, from Dreadnought to Titan size. It seemed particularly easy for the rebels to bind their Daemonic allies to such engines. After the war, the template construct was re-examined by loyalist Forges, and declared tainted and unfit for use. The few Spiders that survived on Stenberg were decommissioned and scrapped after the second Armistice.

I love your army, your story, pretty much everything you've done. And I would love to see a battle report featuring your forge. Perhaps even defending your forge world from an attack

Thanks!

There's a batrep (vs Biel Tan) here: http://sdahl.net/~sdahl/whepic/20120302/ (sorry for the blurry pics)

A frient is currently modeling a fortified beach; Once that is done, we'll be doing a D-Day style game with the rebel AdMech defending against loyalist guards and space marine. I'll be sure to take pictures!

Secutors

Image

As the war went on, many Stenberg Tech-priests turned their interests to the machineries of War, inloading ancient strategy and tactics patterns and upgrading their bodies with heavy armour and armaments. Thus accoutered, they joined the Skitarii forces, always with devastating effect.

Oh, and more batreps:
