Midwives are gossips :-) When we went to the hospital the next day to have him checked over, all the midwives there knew exactly who we were and what had happened.
To cut a long story short: we live between 45 and 90 minutes (depending on traffic) from the nearest maternity unit, so when labour came on more quickly than expected, it was too late to go anywhere. Thankfully an ambulance crew and a midwife were nearby otherwise I'd have had to deliver him myself!
