I am in the process of scouring my domains for Epic Models (the Internetz as well) and have hit on a great deal on Space Marines/Imperial Guard models. Here's the rub, I hate the bases, and truth be told the paint jobs, so I want to replace them with 25 mm Round bases.

This raises two questions I'd like answered by you folks:

1) Is this likely to cause problems if I wanted to compete in Britcon or EpicUK GT in 2012?

2) Can anyone recommend a purveyor of pre-fab Resin bases that would work?

Thanks in advance

Mvh, Cory

1 - Nope.

2 - I use 2 pence coins for 25mm round bases. Alternately, try the french Epic forum, they have a fellow who makes some truly excellent bases.

Renedra does 25mm rounds. 50 for 2.5 GBP

http://renedra.co.uk/webstore.html

Rounds are fine for Epic bases. "Legal" ranges from 1x20mm to 40x40mm and anything in between. We even allow 3/4" instead of 20mm in the US. :P

You could try fender washers if you want a bit more weight. I doubt it would be much cheaper though.

The minimum is actually 5mm x 20mm.

5mm - 40mm In either direction, with at least one direction 20mm or more.

E&C, sorry to bother you. I've had a look at the french forum but am struggling to find the bloke that makes the epic bases you mention. Any chance you know his name or could post a link please?

Thanks for the help gents. My mistake though, I'm after some rectangular bases roughly the same width and depth as the GW ones only deeper (still with the recessed holes for the infantry). Not that I'm being picky or anything ;) Any ideas if anything matching this description exists/where I would get it from?

Your best bet then is to get some plasticard. Just measure out the bases you want, score with a hobby knife and a steel ruler, and break. They will snap neatly in straight lines.

If you really (really) need the holes, make two pieces of plasticard for each stand, use a hole punching set to hole up one, and glue it to the top of the other; repeat as many times as needed.

No problem,

It's all good, it's all about the bases.

Regards,
