I've got 20+ Leman Russ models. I've never played this game before (I don't think I'll have the opportunity to anytime soon), but I'd like to have a well proportioned, playable force. Based on what I've read here I'm likely going to switch between Minervans and Steel Legion.
Now I've got some demolisher models already (probably 6 or so total), so that's covered. I know I'll want access to at least a full unit of standard Russ. What proportions of Conquerers/Executioners/Vanquishers should I convert?

You could try magnetizing the turrets for ultimate flexibility (and consequently, power).

Not a bad idea. Only issue is that a lot of these have been glued already so it's a bit of a PITA. I've also got a f*ckton of these, so I can afford to have chassis dedicated to different variants. What I'm unclear on is specific proportions I'll likely want down the road...

You're playing Minervan then?
I tend to use mostly Standard, Vanquisher, Demolisher, and Exterminators. The Standard and Vanq for companies with good shooting, and the Demos and Exterminators for FF heavy platoons. I have some Destroyer turrets, but without a dedicated destroyer formation like the EUK Ulani have, I find they can't acheive the concentration of fire to make them worth their points. Executioners would hake good alternatives to Vanqs, but I've got no turrets for them, and they lose the sponsons anyway.

Good info!
I would like to be as flexible with my army list as possible, ie. Minervan, SL, whatever else.
I got the impression people were running vanquishers as add-ons to standard units.
Sounds like I mostly need to convert exterminators and can skip conquerors entirely.

Whoops! I knew I forgot something! Conquerers are pretty awesome, though I currently only have one turret. For objective grabbing, you can't beat a 35cm RA4+ unit. It gets there fast and won't move.

So I do want some conquerers! I'm glad everything was made to have a completely different sponson loadout.
