Is a price change for the Fortress Mob something we should consider?

They are rarely taken. I've only seen two army lists in years and those were the same guy. The pricing was based on the 135 point Gunforts. Those have dropped 10 points each.

Is 250/450/650 a reasonable price? Would people consider taking them?

I'd assume.

I'd consider it. Compared to the Big BB, you'd get: 30cm speed vs 35cm. Same ovarall CC/FF, and same average AT hits to destroy (12). 6 Big Gunz and 10 Big Shootas vs 8 Big Gunz, and 1 oddboy slot vs 2. Greater vulnerability to MW/TK weapons, but slower supression, albiet faster breaking. Looks like a fair trade to me.

Despite the fact its an Epic-UK list would you like to see the winning list from this years GT?

Here it is - http://www.epic-uk.co.uk/ukepicachampio ... =18&tid=46

I don't see any need to change the cost of fortresses. It's usually a problem of not playing enough of them.

Huh, somehow I thought the 1000pts of Fighta Bommers army won the GT.

I saw that list. I noticed a good win ratio but I didn't realize it won.

Hmm... OK.

Heh. I've been saying this about Fortresses in the core list for... oh... years.

I dunno but I'm thinking that forts have been considered to be rather pants for along time. Simon's success will make many folks re-evaluate that i'm sure.

possibly the real value of any single fort increases in the presence of other forts in the formation / army?

War Engines do tend to reach a critical mass after which they're more useful than they were before.

Not too take anything away from Simon who showed he knew how to use them at the GT, but it also helps if you have the right tools for the job. I played him in game 1 and was fortunate enough to have enough Zzaps, fightas and soopas to have a reasonably comfortable* win.

Personally I'm not a great fan of the Fortresses**. I don't think they are durable enough to warrant the price tag. Decrease in points or better armour save? Either one would be good in my book. Ideally the armour save though, a points decrease kinda masks the problem IMO.

Cheers
Reedar

* In fairness, it didn't feel that comfortable until the tail end of turn 3....

** Most likely down to a lack of skill using them it has to be said!

The most obvious armor change would be to 5+ RA, being only a modest increase against normal AT firepower, bus a substantial increase against macroweapons.

I really wanted to play the 14 fort army with my 'nids as well :(
