I see two ways of doing this, and I'd say only one fits the rules:
1) go for BFG scale, or something only slightly smaller.
2) go for epic-matching, but that would restrict to (mainly) small ships. Although an Epic battle with troops on board and inside a battleship would be grand....

I'm using sketchup to build the models, and I've also got a handy widget for it that lets you 'unfold' a model into a prinatable net (with tabs)
so expand the flats up to epic scale and then print out - 0.2mm detail (for 3d rpinter) goes to 2mm detail (for fingers).

BUT I basically want to redo the lot of them now, to aim for that saller scale feel. damn.

ha ha ha.

when I have time - this varies depending on what site I'm working and whether it's a hot phase or not. For the last week I've not touched a model, but I don't know what's happening after monday. the joys of construction.

EDIT - but just for you, this lunch break I split the bridge window into 2 storeys and added some small doors elsewhere - it makes a huge difference. much happier. much much more work to go though.
