THIS IS AN OLD VERSION OF THE HERESY LIST, PRESERVED FOR REFERENCE ONLY. FOR THE CURRENT VERSION, SEE MY SIG.

0.3 is up. 0.2 also had 36 downloads (the same as 0.1).

MEDIAFIRE LINK FOR 0.3

Changelist from 0.2 to 0.3:
Whirlwind Detachment added
Heresy Sabres added as part of the Vindicator upgrade
Factions rules eliminated. There are three generic Daemon types (Beasts, Lessers, and Greaters).
Daemon rules rewritten again. Should be more readable - or at least more concise.

And no, I have no idea why the font seems to have changed since last version.

Thoughts, comments, and criticisms welcome on all aspects of the list. :)

EDIT: OBSOLETE INFORMATION BELOW. SAVED FOR ARCHIVAL PURPOSES ONLY.

0.2 is up (0.1 had 36 downloads, so more of you than Apologist need to comment in depth on this one. ;))

Changes:
New units: Space Wolf Heroes, Blood Angel Sanguinary Guard, Sons of Horus Drop Cadre, and the Harpy Interceptor (mentioned in passing in Apocalypse).
New formations: Assault Company, Fire Support Company, Harpy Squadron, Thunderhawk Flight
Recategorizing: Raptors are now Support, as are Armoured Companies
Upgrades: The Assault and Tactical upgrades were combined, as were the Veteran and Terminator upgrades. Terminator and Veteran formations now have more limited access to upgrades. Up to three Predators can now be purchased. Vindicators were added (since I forgot them last time)
Amendments: Assault units should NOT have had jump packs, and no longer do.
Special Rules: Defenders of Humanity added. Legions and Factions combined.
Costs: Various increases to account for the addition of Defenders of Humanity

Since this one is a little bigger (stupid embedded font), it's on Mediafire:

Before going into it (as I have thought about this in the past), how do you expect to do the formations?

At that time they could have been any number from what I remember.

World Eaters may be easier as they would/could have been formed into gladius formations, yet I really am unsure about the rest. Essentially I do not think Codex is appropriate for the Heresy legions.

Would this be released as one mega list? with all of the 'modern' tech stripped out and the older versions available, just with each legion getting a single unique unit, a unique formation and possibly a special rule?

becuase I like that ambition.

Space Wolves - Grey Hunters
Iron Hands - Iron Fist - Techpreist + retinue (4+ Inv but NO RA?)

Making a new list that derives somewhat from the Black Legion list, somewhat from the Codex list, somewhat from original Space Marine lists, and somewhat from the HH novels and IA series.

Exactly (the unique formation will usually involve the unique unit, but it may involve other things as well).

Then you'll (hopefully) like the eventual result. :)

But they're basically Tacticals...

Of course! A Techpriest! Excellent!

Well, Grey hunters are meant to be older, tougher versions of scouts.

but if you prefer how about a pack of fenrisian wolves?

For the Dark Angels, don't forget Deathwing are post heresy. Perfect opportunity to bring back the Ironwing though as a LR formation.

Ravenwing were there in the Heresy if you want something more traditional.

Wulfen or Fenrisian wolves would be great for the Space Wolves.

Only 3 mins that time. Getting better :)

Back to it: It is going to be a hard list to do and keeping the numbers of the units fluid could be a good idea. Probably another question for you:

Do you envisage having combined roles and armour in formations? Example: Assault with Tacticals and even 1 or 2 terminators? It will effect Transport options mostly (speaking from experience from the World Eaters list) however it will really give that Heresy feel if a way was found to show this and keep it balanced - and competitive (points vs activations).

A list with this many unique unit types of marines is going to be pretty tricky for an opponent to keep track of.

No, because they can only field one type of unique marine in an army - one per legion.

since people don't often change their legion between battles, it should be pretty simple.

I'm gagging for this list, I've wanted to paint up a pre-heresy World Eater list for ages :)!

And painting a myriad of colour schemes will prevent opponents having to face too many legions!

General

A draft list is attached. Thoughts for removal, addition, or revision are very welcome.

Yes, it looks a lot like the Black Legion list. That's sort of the point, after all. :)

Sure you're not thinking of Wolf Scouts?

A little anticlimactic, but it'd fit...

The thing is that most other veteran units are kind of impressive (with the Word Bearers the obvious exception). Wolf Packs...aren't.

Are they, though? It seems inconclusive in the current material, and if I bring back the Ironwing I might as well just have the Deathwing. :) By Deathwing I really mean I'll be using the Deathwing statline - they won't necessarily be Deathwing.

Hadn't thought of Wulfen. Interesting thought. On the other hand, I thought the Wolves tended to hide them away.

Well. No pressure, then. ;)

The basic structure will be borrowed from the Black Legion list. There will be three core companies - Tacticals, Bikes, and Armoured. Elites are one per Company, Support is two per company. Support is mostly small to medium formations with little or no possibility for upgrades. Elites is small formations with the potential to get bigger (in some cases). And the core companies are medium and can get downright huge. Mixture of units is very possible (I've always found the lack of that in the Codex list odd, and the Heresy list gives license to do it).

Or just look at the file that is now attached to the first post. :)

Well, the intent is that you only have to keep track of one at a time, since you can only be one legion at a time (and there is a special rule to make sure of that).

Ironwing were a Heresy formation, Deathwing post heresy.

We could meet half way and go Ravenwing :p. They are pre and post heresy :D.

The Deathwing, Ironwing, and Ravenwing are all contemporaneous in the 1e Space Marine rules.

I dodged it by calling them Dark Angel Terminators, anyway. :)
