Very nice work on all the models, the tree added to the warhound titan and rocks really look good too, That page just above reminds me of a sm1 box set that i got of flea bay, the previous owner had collected loads of white dwarf articles and also the titans codex, some really great pics and made me remeber all the early figures aswell. Have to say the GW artwork was fantastic even back then.

Regards epic

I've managed to add a bit to the detailing of the terrain yersteday evening (gravel and texture work).

There are probably another session or two of such work to do, as I need to allow some layer to dry before adding more details, depending on the places. It's starting to look better. I will try to take a few pics this evening and maybe continue my large batch of trees. I also realise my trees will finally be much smaller than the ones in the illustration on the previous page. I'll probably keep the huge trees and Titans in the jungle setting for a Diorama/titan display piece later on.

I also need to do some tests with the resin I got; a large area of water, plus a waterfall and a running river are planned, and I'm a bit anxious as the water will be added in the last stage of this terrain piece building and I find this quite unpleasant as lots of hour will already have been invested at that stage.

Which paints are safe ? How hard should I glue anything in the bottom ? Does the dye I plan to use to taint it work as I'd like ?

The consequence is that I will probably build one or two much smaller diorama/display base in the meantime so as to be able to experiment with the resin. I'm still toying with an idea or two as to what theses pieces will be, but at least one will contain some dormant water (at least 1cm deep) and the other a small brook or river.

I'd like to keep these test scene small so as to keep work to a minimum in case they fail. I have a few ideas of my own, but if you have some suggestions, don't hesitate to voice them, as good ideas are always welcome.

Maybe a torn battlefield with water filled craters, a section of cliff with a waterfall and small brook, a bridge....

hum.

A bit more texturing and detailing was done. I took a few photo, but i don't know how to obtain nice photos without good natural light so the shots ain't very good. Anyway, a more or less horizontal view :

And a shot from the cliff base :

I basically just added some more rock debris and did a basic texturing of the ground with sand (some coarse sand and some fine one).

I guess most of the modeling (beside tree and water ofc) is done, I'll probably do some touch ups, add a few bits of details here and there, and then onto painting.

Epoxy resin for the main amount (i have some gedeo crystal), and some remeltable "water" (probably woodland scenic one) and water effects for the waterfall and currents, probably combined with glass fibre (i have an eye on deluxe material stuff for that).

The only risky part is the epoxy resin. I have to get the mix right, depending on the water depth, to avoid both crack and the cloudy look of incompletely cured resin. I will also have to experiment with colouring said resin. I will avoid polyester resins since the mix is harder to get right and these types of resin might have a more unpredictable reaction with paints, dyes, and eat plastics.

Some progress has been made; most notably a first slap of paint. I will have to work on everything that ISN'T terrain next, to have a nice flat and smooth surface on the "outside".

Then I'll have to start the Airbrushing. I must confess I am actually slightly intimidated by the thing.

I have also started the preparation of some Nice Small Walking robots, but they probably won't see paint for some time, since I have my TOEG Eldars taking up most of my hobby time at the moment.

Before starting on true-scale thingies, I'd like to finish my WIP Lucius warlord and at least a Lucius Warhound, and a Lucius Reaver. I'm afraid I won't ever get to complete these after I start on a new Titan Legio.

A Little report here.

I have finally dared to try my airbrush. The thing is a bitch to control, but it is actually an incredible tool, specially for terrain and larger models (or base-coating the lazy way :)) I have done some progress on my eldars too, but I will report that in my TOEG thread once I have taken proper photos.

Anyway, I'm glad this terrain piece is back on tracks. Still a lot of work to be done on the painting, with traditional brush though from now on.

I did some model preparation on a few proxy titans I've got, and they look gorgeous; I'm still slightly unsure about the colour scheme I want to use. While pondering about the opportunity to paint a test model, I started to think about yet another project. As I already have enough Lucius pattern titans for a small force, and as the next ones will definitely be true-scale only, I find myself with a lot of "classic" Reavers and Warhounds...

When I find the time, I think I'd like to paint them as individual titans, each representing an emblematic legio. Wouldn't that look cool ? When I get around to this, I will probably call upon the wisdom of the forum to suggest the appropriate legio/colours if I need suggestions.

Still no pictures !

Just a quick update : I have just magnetized my first titan. This is incredible, I think I will start putting magnets into any miniature I can get my hands onto.

Got a bit depressed after looking at some nice vid-blogs about terrain modelling (for model train enthusiasts). I Still have a few technique to learn, specially when it comes to cliff faces and how to make em realistic, and as always in those case it's hard to motivate myself and finish the work I started, instead of redoing from scratch entirely. However, I think I should finish this one if only to explore the stuff I have never done on that scale.

Of course, I already have Other terrain projects in mind... But I'll try to finish this one before I get started on the next. But man, I find it hard to obtain something like chalk in aspect (I'd like chalk cliffs !).

Anyway, I also started work on a pair of Small Walking robots, that I intend to use as proxy warhound. The models are gorgeous, but some of the moldlines can be hard to get since they are sometime very hard to seee before a coat of paint is applied. I think I will give white resin models a quick wash before cleaning in the future, so as to be able to give em a better preparation.

Magnetizing those beautiful models yielded great results (I think I can still make it work even better, specially for the upper carapace... I have to wait for some thinner magnets to come to my mailbox first though). I will have a lot of painting to do this week to be able to post them in the Epic comp, but I'll try !

Wondering if I won't paint a quick thingy for single miniature too, but the only definite project I have for this is kind of a joke, and maybe it wouldn't really fit in the comp. I'll ask 'V' about it.

I'll keep the colour scheme, style choice and base theme secret until I enter one of them in the comp I think. I'm eagerly awaiting some medium sized walking robots to use as reaver proxies, I think they may end up looking even better !

I am starting to design a cool base / basing for my first FW thunderhawks - or at least it looks cool in my imagination. I will have a little scratch building to do for this, I hope I'll be able to do it right.
I'll have 2 more to do after, still... And I'm missing a reactor exhaust. I wouldn't dare ask FW for a new one, I ordered those years ago... Maybe I'll try green-stuff casting the missing piece.

Still a lot of bits of projects and no pictures. The shame, the shame !
